Everton play their first Premier League game at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium home on Sunday as they entertain Brighton & Hove Albion (14:00 BST, Sky Sports Main Event).

Both of these sides endured disappointing results in the opening round of fixtures and a response is needed. Everton slipped to a 1-0 loss at newly-promoted Leeds United, while Brighton conceded a last-gasp equaliser against Fulham after leading for the majority of the second half.

My Everton vs Brighton predictions are below, supported by all the latest team news and Betfred's match odds.

Everton vs Brighton Betting Tips

  • Over 2.5 Goals @ 11/10
  • Iliman Ndiaye to score anytime @ 3/1

Team News

Everton were without Vitalii Mykolenko and Adam Aznou against Leeds and both are expected to sit out again on Sunday.

Jack Grealish could be handed a start after featuring from the bench at Elland Road.

Solly March and Adam Webster are out for Brighton, but Jack Hinshelwood may be involved after missing the draw with Fulham.

Everton vs Brighton Stats

  • No home side has won a clash between these two in their last nine encounters
  • Three of the last six match-ups have been won by the away side by three or more (0-3 and 1-4 for Brighton, and 1-5 to Everton)

Everton vs Brighton Odds

Everton are the 21/10 underdogs to pick up a victory in their first game at their new home. Brighton are 7/5 to win and the draw is 23/10.

Both teams to score is 4/5 and Brighton's Matt O'Riley is 3/1 to score at anytime after his strike from the spot against Fulham.

Over 2.5 goals @ 11/10

Everton produced a performance that can at best be described as abject at Leeds last week, and in normal circumstances a win for Brighton would have strong appeal, but this is no ordinary fixture for the Merseyside outfit.

Manager David Moyes will be demanding a far better display and this game should feel almost like a cup final for Everton, who only have one chance to win the opening game at their new home.

The Toffees managed to ensure they ended their stay at Goodison Park with a good run as they lost just one of their final seven home games - winning their last fixture and avoiding defeat in their last home Merseyside derby - and they should be up for this clash.

Brighton can play their part as well, however, as they have scored in nine consecutive games and the best angle looks to be backing these teams to combine for at least three goals.

Albion tend to be involved in high-scoring games as over 2.5 goals has been a winning bet in 13 of their last 16 Premier League outings, while Everton scored in nine of their final 10 home games last season.  Both of these teams look capable of contributing, and as such, the 11/10 on over 2.5 goals appeals here at an implied probability of 47.6%.

Iliman Ndiaye to score anytime @ 3/1

Iliman Ndiaye scored the final two Everton goals at Goodison Park with a double in last season's win over Southampton and he can help them settle into their new surroundings with a strike against the Seagulls.

Ndiaye was Everton's top Premier League scorer last season with nine goals, one of which came in a victory over Brighton in a reverse fixture back in January.
