Rangers vs Braga Prediction: Braga can complete Glasgow double

Rangers sit at the bottom of the 36-team Europa League table after losing all of their four group-stage games and any remaining hopes of qualification have to start with an Ibrox victory against Braga on Thursday night (20:00 GMT, TNT Sports 3).

Manager Danny Rohl has made somewhat of a positive impact on the Gers, but the Govan side take on an in-form Braga outfit, who have already been successful in Glasgow this season.

Rangers have a huge injury list which includes key defender John Souttar. On-loan forward Mikey Moore is also out and the Tottenham man is joined on the sidelines by Derek Cornelius, Rabbi Matondo, Youssef Chermiti, Liam Kelly, Bailey Rice, Dujon Sterling and Kieron Dowell.

Danilo is likely to get the nod to lead the Gers’ attacking line, flanked by Oliver Antman and Djeidi Gassama.

Former Wolves midfielder Joao Moutinho has shaken off a knock and is fit to start for Braga. Defender Vitor Carvalho is a doubt and Jonatas Noro is out.

Braga picked up a 2-0 Europa League win at Parkhead against Celtic last month and Carlos Vicens’ side can complete a Glasgow double by beating Rangers at Ibrox.

The Portuguese outfit have also picked up victories against Red Star and Feyenoord in Europe this term, and while the Archbishops were beaten 4-3 by Genk in their most recent continental clash, that was a game Vicens’ men dominated.

Braga hit 20 shots to Genk’s nine and the expected goals figures finished 2.55 to 1.09 in favour of the Arsenalists.

Rangers have shown limited improvement under Rohl, but the Gers will hope they can find the sort of performance which saw the Govan side beat Braga 3-1 in the quarter-finals of the 2021-22 Europa League.

However, Rohl is dealing with a lengthy injury list and the Light Blues have lost all of their four group-stage matches.

Braga rate a solid bet to complete a Glasgow double at Ibrox.

Vicens’ men have hit 24 of those strikes and the visitors should get plenty of joy against a depleted Rangers' rearguard.

Key defender Souttar joins Cornelius on the sidelines and there is no confidence in a Rangers' defence, which has kept only two clean sheets in 12 matches.

That said, a home Ibrox crowd will drive the Gers forward and the Old Firm outfit may be able to contribute to a high-scoring European tie.
