PAOK vs Maccabi Tel Aviv Prediction: Visitors to leave Thessaloniki empty-handed

PAOK and Maccabi Tel Aviv will both be looking to get their league phase of the 2025/26 Uefa Europa League campaign off on the right foot on Wednesday evening (17:45 BST, TNT Sports 9) when they face off at Toumba Stadium.
Below are my PAOK vs Maccabi Tel Aviv predictions, as well as all the essential team news and match odds for the clash in Thessaloniki.

Team News
Starting with the hosts, midfielder Dimitrios Pelkas is a major doubt after he picked up a knock against Panetolikos.
If Pelkas does not win his race against time to be fit, Giannis Konstantelias is likely to be the man to step up and try to fill the void.
As for the visitors, Maccabi boss Zarko Lazetic should have a full squad to choose from with no reports of any fresh injuries going into this game.
PAOK are the 7/10 favourites to come out on top on Wednesday night, while Maccabi Tel Aviv are the 4/1 underdogs. A draw in Thessaloniki is available at 11/4, while PAOK to be leading at both the half-time and full-time whistle is currently 8/5.
PAOK to win to nil @ 15/8
PAOK made a positive start to their domestic campaign as they won their opening three games, although they missed the opportunity to open up a lead after failing to break down Panetolikos in a 0-0 draw on Saturday.
Still, that was arguably a good result after being dumped out of the Greek Cup a week ago, and they are alongside Olympiacos and AEK Athens on 10 points after four games in the standings.
Razvan Lucescu's men next take on a Maccabi Tel Aviv side who have won all of their first four games in the Israeli Premier League, but their defensive strength, allied with home advantage, should see PAOK register an opening win.
Maccabi have struggled on the road in the Europa League of late, losing four of their last six away games, while PAOK are undefeated in their last 10 home games in all competitions, winning eight of those and drawing two.
Keeping eight clean sheets in that time, PAOK, who beat Rijeka 5-0 in the play-off round at the Toumba Stadium, to win to nil in Wednesday’s game, gets the green light.

Kiril Despodov anytime goalscorer @ 7/4
Bulgarian international Kiril Despodov scored PAOK’s opening goal of their league campaign in a 1-0 win over Larissa, and the 28-year-old is backed to find the back of the net on Wednesday.
Scoring five times previously in the Champions League and recording five goals in the Europa League, Despodov tends to pop up with goals on European nights and can repeat the feat against Maccabi, who have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last 13 games in this competition.
