PAOK vs Celta Vigo Prediction: Iglesias at it again

PAOK and Celta Vigo have already faced off once this season, with the latter prevailing 3-1 in Spain on matchday two of the Uefa Europa League league phase on October 2.
The two sides renew acquaintances this Thursday (17:45 GMT, TNT Sports 6) in the first leg of their knockout phase play-off tie at the Greek club’s Toumba Stadium. Below are my PAOK vs Celta Vigo predictions, supported by all the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
PAOK pair Georgios Giakoumakis and Giannis Konstantelias are both suspended for Thursday’s first leg, while Luka Ivanusec (muscle), Soualiho Meite (thigh), Kiril Despodov (unspecified) and Dimitrios Pelkas (knock) are among those set to sit out due to injury.
For Celta Vigo, Carlos Dominguez and Franco Cervi (both unspecified) are fitness concerns, while Alvaro Nunez is ruled out with a groin issue.
PAOK vs Celta Vigo Predicted Lineups
- PAOK: Pavlenka; Kenny, Kedziora, Michailidis, Rahman; Ozdoev, Camara; Chatsidis, Taison, Zivkovic; Mythou
- Celta Vigo: Radu; Alonso, Starfelt, Rodriguez; Rueda, Lopez, Roman Gonzalez, Carreira; Swedberg, Iglesias, Aspas
PAOK are 7/5 favourites to win on Thursday, implying a 41.7% probability of success, while Celta Vigo are 2/1, or a 33.3% chance, to take a lead back to Spain.
The draw, meanwhile, is offered at 9/4.
PAOK vs Celta Vigo Stats
- Both teams score in seven of CVI’s eight league-phase games
- It was a winning selection in five of PAOK’s
- Iglesias (CVI) scored in his side’s 3-1 victory over PAOK in October
Double Chance & Both Teams To Score - PAOK or Draw & Yes @ 13/10
Backing both teams to score at 8/11 looks like the obvious play here as it was a winning selection in seven of Celta’s eight league-phase games, including their final four.
PAOK, meanwhile, saw BTTS-Yes land in five of their eight, including their 3-1 defeat in Vigo.
Razvan Lucescu’s side went unbeaten at home in the league phase, winning two of their four matches at Toumba Stadium (D2), so I think it’s worth adding in the hosts on the double chance, too, especially as Claudio Giraldez's Celta only won one of their four away games in the league phase, losing twice and drawing the other.

Anytime Goalscorer - Borja Iglesias (CIV) @ 7/4
Celta striker Borja Iglesias, who scored 11 goals on 39 appearances on loan last season, has enjoyed an even more productive campaign in front of goal in 2025/26 after making a permanent switch from Real Betis last summer.
The 33-year-old has struck 14 times in 32 games, including twice in eight Europa League outings, the second of which came against PAOK in October.
Iglesias heads to Thessaloniki with a goal in each of his last two games, and that confidence should serve him well on Thursday.
