Lyon vs Celta Vigo Prediction: Les Gones’ winless woe to continue

Celta Vigo took a 25th-minute lead through Javier Rueda in the first leg of their Uefa Europa League last-16 tie with Olympique Lyonnais last week, but the 55th-minute dismissal of Borja Iglesias changed the complexion of the game at the Balaidos, and the French side's persistence finally paid off in the 87th minute, when Real Madrid loanee Endrick struck their equaliser.
The tie is finely poised heading into Thursday's second leg at Groupama Stadium (17:45 GMT, TNT Sports 4), and ahead of the action, you can check out my Lyon vs Celta Vigo predictions, alongside team news and match odds, below.

Lyon's treatment room is busy at the moment, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles (adductor), Malick Fofana, Remi Himbert (both ankle), Pavel Sulc (muscle), Ernest Nuamah (knee) and Ruben Kluivert (hamstring) among those out injured.

Miguel Roman (foot) is ruled out for Claudio Giraldez's side, while Ferran Jutgla (head) and Manu Fernandez (muscle) are doubtful of featuring in France.

Lyon vs Celta Vigo Stats

- CVI are unbeaten in their last six away matches across all comps (W2, D4)
- Morton (LYO) is averaging 1.6 tackles p/g in 25/26 UEL
- Alonso (CVI) is averaging 0.5 shots p/g in 25/26 UEL
Double Chance - Draw or Celta Vigo @ 4/5
Lyon hold the slight advantage in this tie after avoiding defeat in Vigo last week, with Celta now having to fight it out in front of a hostile French crowd.
However, Les Gones are in rotten form, failing to win any of their last six games (D4, L2).
Paulo Fonseca's side suffered back-to-back Ligue 1 defeats at RC Strasbourg (3-1) and Olympique Marseille (3-2) before drawing 2-2 at home to RC Lens in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France, exiting the competition after losing a penalty shootout.
Lyon were then held 1-1 at home in Ligue 1 by Paris FC before drawing 1-1 at Celta and 0-0 at Le Havre, with both of their hosts reduced to 10 men in the 55th minute.
Celta haven't won any of their last three matches, which came after four consecutive victories, but they can be proud of their efforts in those games. They were only beaten by a stoppage-time strike from Federico Valverde in a 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid before drawing 1-1 with Lyon and 1-1 at Real Betis, the latter of whom are currently fifth in La Liga and also playing a Europa League last-16 tie this week.
The Sky Blues haven't lost any of their last six away games across all competitions (W2, D4), while Lyon haven't won either of their last two matches on home soil.
I think the visitors have enough in their arsenal to at least take the tie to extra time on Thursday.

Bet Builder - Tyler Morton (LYO) 2+ Tackles & Marcos Alonso (CVI) 1+ Shots @ 2/1
Former Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton only recorded one tackle in his 85 minutes of action against Celta last week, but he's averaging 1.6 per game across the whole Europa League campaign, despite three of his nine appearances coming from the bench.
The 23-year-old Englishman has registered at least two tackles in three of his last five competition outings, including four in the first half of his side's 4-2 victory over PAOK at Groupama Stadium before he was taken off at half-time.
Morton is also averaging 1.7 tackles per game in Ligue 1, making 2+ tackles in two of his last three league matches.
Celta defender Marcos Alonso, meanwhile, is averaging 0.5 and 0.9 shots per game, respectively, in this season's Europa League and La Liga.
A set-piece taker and someone who heads into the penalty box for attacking corners, the 35-year-old always has a chance of shooting at least once in a game.
