Go Ahead Eagles vs Aston Villa Prediction: Six on the trot for Emery’s Villans

Aston Villa's current five-game win streak started with a 2-0 victory over Bologna in their opening fixture of the Uefa Europa League league phase, and their third was a 2-0 win at Feyenoord in the same competition. Unai Emery will be hoping his side can maintain their 100% record in Europe this season when they take a trip to Go Ahead Eagles in Deventer, the Netherlands, on Thursday (17:45 BST, TNT Sports 1).
Below are my Go Ahead Eagles vs Aston Villa predictions, supported by all the latest team news and match odds, ahead of this midweek meeting at De Adelhaarshorst.

Team News
Soren Tengstedt (unspecified), Victor Edvardsen and Pim Saathof (both knee) are out injured for Go Ahead, whose head coach, Melvin Boel, could make changes following two games without a victory, the latest a 2-1 defeat at reigning Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven last Saturday.
Villa are still missing Youri Tielemans (calf) in midfield, while Tyrone Mings (ankle), who has missed his side's last three matches, is doubtful of featuring in Deventer.
Emery could hand starts to Ollie Watkins, who came off the bench in Sunday's 2-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur, Emiliano Buendia, who scored the winner as a second-half substitute in north London, Victor Lindelof, Ross Barkley, Jadon Sancho and Harvey Elliott.
Go Ahead Eagles vs Aston Villa Predicted Lineups
- Go Ahead Eagles: De Busser; Deijl, Nauber, Kramer, James; Meulensteen, Linthorst; Suray, Breum, Margaret; Smit
- Aston Villa: Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Lindelof, Maatsen; McGinn, Bogarde; Elliott, Buendia, Malen; Watkins
Go Ahead Eagles vs Aston Villa Odds
Go Ahead, who have only won one of their five home games this season, are 6/1, or a 14.3% chance, to claim a famous victory on Thursday, while Villa are 4/9 (69.2%) to make it three victories out of three in the UEL league phase.
The draw is priced at 18/5, both teams to score at 8/11, and over 2.5 total goals at 8/15.
Go Ahead Eagles vs Aston Villa Stats
- AVL have won their last five games
- GAE have scored in 10/12 matches this season
- GAE are averaging 8.6 corners taken per home game
- AVL are averaging 6.4 corners conceded per away match (across PL & UEL)
Match Result & Both Teams to Score - Aston Villa & Yes @ 7/4
Villa started the season slowly, failing to win any of their first six games, but they're on a roll now, winning their last five.
Impressively, they have beaten both Feyenoord and Spurs away from home this month, and I'm fully expecting the Villans to claim another victory in the Netherlands on Thursday.
Given Villa have kept two clean sheets in the UEL league phase this season, shutting out both Bologna and Feyenoord, an away Win to Nil might pique interest at 13/8, but I do believe Go Ahead can get on the scoresheet at home, even if they end up on the losing side.
The reigning Dutch Cup champions have scored in 10 of their 12 games this season, including their last four, two of which have ended in defeat.
Boel's side grabbed a goal in a loss at Champions League side PSV on the weekend, and so they have every right to believe that they can pose problems for Villa on home soil.

Most Corners - Go Ahead Eagles @ 11/4
Go Ahead have taken 6+ corners in all five home matches this season, taking 43 in total (8.6 per game on average) and winning the corner count in four.
Villa, meanwhile, have conceded 32 corners across five away contests in the Premier League and Europa League (6.4 per game on average), losing the corner count three times.
Of course, Villa have a much better and more expensively assembled squad, so they are likely to pose a tougher test than most, if not all, of the teams that have previously visited De Adelaarshorst this season, but Emery's side may not have it all their own way on Thursday, and the above selection looks like great value, taking into account the aforementioned statistics.
