Fenerbahce vs Ferencvaros Prediction: Go for goals in Istanbul

Fenerbahce have taken seven points from their opening four Uefa Europa League league games and could grab three more when Ferencvaros visit on Thursday (17:45 GMT, discovery+). The Hungarians remain unbeaten in this competition and, like Fener, dropped into this competition after losing in Uefa Champions League qualifying.

Team News

Fred, Ismail Yuksek and Jayden Oosterwolde are all suspended for the hosts, while Domenico Tedesco has a dilemma up front.

Jhon Duran started as Fener came from 2-0 down to win 5-2 at Rizespor on Sunday, failing to score but providing two assists before being replaced by Youssef En-Nesyri, who netted within three minutes of his introduction with a quarter of an hour left.

Among the reasons to be optimistic about Ferencvaros grabbing a goal is the form of Barnabas Varga, who has scored twice in this competition, after netting six times in as many games in the Champions League qualifiers.

A late bloomer, the 31-year-old also turned and half-volleyed in a wonder goal in Hungary's painful 3-2 World Cup qualifying defeat to Ireland earlier this month.

Varga only featured for the final half an hour against Nyiregyhaza, and with him likely to come back in on Thursday, expect the ungainly forward to cause the Fener defence problems.
