England vs Italy Prediction: Stanway to send Le Azzurre home

Having scraped past Sweden in a dramatic penalty shootout, England take on Italy on Tuesday night (20:00 BST, ITV1) with a place in the Uefa European Women’s Championship Final on July 27 up for grabs.

Below are my England vs Italy predictions, as well as all the essential team news and match odds for the semi-final showdown at the Stade de Geneve in Switzerland.

Team News

Starting with England, skipper Leah Williamson was forced off with an ankle injury in the quarter-final win over the Swedes and faces a race against time to be fit for Tuesday night.

If Williamson is passed fit, don’t expect manager Sarina Wiegman to make too many changes from the side that won in Zurich last time out.

As for Italy, Martina Lenzini and fellow Juventus star Lisa Boattin are both pushing for returns to the starting lineup in this semi-final.

Star forward Cristiana Girelli is set to lead the line once again for Le Azzurre.

England vs Italy Odds

England are the 1/2 favourites for the win in normal time, while Italy are priced at 11/2 to cause a shock.

A draw in 90 minutes is on offer at 10/3, while England are 2/9 to progress to the final by any means, with Italy at 3/1 in the same market.

England to win and both teams to score @ 2/1

England have reached the semi-finals, but it’s not exactly been a run built on the most solid of foundations.

Keeping just one clean sheet in their four games so far, even winless Wales managed to score against the Lionesses in their Group D encounter in St. Gallen.

Italy have their attacking threats, with Girelli their star in the final third, having already scored three goals in this tournament.

Le Azzurre might well get on the scoresheet, but England have enough firepower to win this one in Geneva.

Winning four of their previous five games against Italy, England should be confident of another success, even if the Italians find the back of the net.

Georgia Stanway (ENG) anytime goalscorer @ 3/1

Bayern Munich star Georgia Stanway has been a key figure for England at this European Championship in Switzerland, with the 26-year-old scoring against both the Netherlands and Wales.

The former Manchester City attacking midfielder can find the pockets of space in and around the box, and as one of the team’s penalty takers, Stanway looks to be great value at odds of 3/1 in the anytime goalscorer market.
