England U21s take on Azerbaijan U21s at Ashton Gate on Tuesday (19:30, England YouTube/FA Player) as they bring their Euro 2025 qualification to a close. The Young Lions have had their place in the tournament finals secured but they will want to go out in style here.

They have lost just once in nine matches so far, and they have already beaten Azerbaijan comfortably as they won 5-1 against them back in March. Read on for my England U21 vs Azerbaijan U21 prediction, including match odds and team news.

England U21 vs Azerbaijan U21 Betting Tips

Team News

England forward Jay Stansfield missed out on Friday's 2-1 victory over Ukraine with a knock, but it remains to be seen whether he will be involved in Bristol. Birmingham City fans will be holding their breath as they will be hoping that their record signing will be back and available to face Lincoln City in League 1 on Saturday.

Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney withdrew from the squad on medical advice ahead of Friday's meeting with Ukraine. It is deemed to be nothing too serious and he could be in line to return to action for Boro at the weekend against Bristol City.

Boss Ben Futcher could opt to rotate his side given the fact that the job is done. We could see the likes of Morgan Rogers, who many thought would be in the England men's senior squad this month, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Alex Scott handed an opportunity to start.

After a late brace on Friday, James McAtee could keep his place in the attacking midfield role, but he also might be under consideration for a rest.

Toulouse defender Charlie Cresswell will be pushing for a promotion from the bench, and he could replace either Jarrell Quansah or Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

Azerbaijan have no fresh concerns for this match but after yet another loss, they could decide to make several changes for this clash.

Over 1.5 first-half goals @ 8/15

England left it late to grab the win against Ukraine, but to come from behind and win in the dying moments was most impressive. On this occasion, however, I fancy them to have more joy in front of goal earlier in the game.

I think there is value to be had in over 1.5 goals in the first half. When these two sides last met, England were 2-0 up at the break thanks to goals from Harvey Elliott and Noni Madueke.

This game may be a dead rubber, but I'm sure Futcher and his players will want to end qualification on a high, and even if he rotates his side, there is so much quality in depth that the Young Lions should have too much for Azerbaijan once again.

England to win 4-0 @ 9/2

As England are the overwhelming favourites to win this match, there isn't much value to be had in the traditional markets. I have decided to go with a correct score for my second selection.

I have picked 4-0 to the hosts because I think they have the quality to demolish Azerbaijan again, regardless of whether this qualifier has meaning or not. As I have already mentioned, the Young Lions are stacked with quality in their squad and there are several players who can deliver the goods in front of goal.

McAtee was the hero last time out, but then there is centre-forward Liam Delap, who has been scoring in the Premier League this season for Ipswich Town. Omari Hutchinson and Jaden Philogene can make things happen from wide areas, and both are no strangers to getting on the scoresheet.

The likes of Rogers, Bynoe-Gittens and Dane Scarlett also carry a huge goal threat regardless of if they are starting or coming on from the bench.

England have also scored at least four goals in two of their last three qualifiers against the visitors and Luxembourg, so I think they could be in for another profitable evening in front of goal. With them being on home soil, I believe they will manage to keep a clean sheet on this occasion too.
