Yay, it's international week again, said no one ever. Nevertheless, with England already on their way to Euro2024, this could be a good opportunity to try out some new talent, in a qualifier against Malta on Friday evening (19:45). We've taken a look at the fixture and given you our insights into our best betting predictions.

England vs Malta Betting Tips

  • England -4 Handicap - 6/5
  • England to win 5-0 - 5/1

England's 3-1 victory over Italy in mid-October sealed qualification from Group A and ensured the Three Lions will be in Germany next summer, attempting to win their first major silverware for 58 years.

With their next two games virtual dead-rubbers against inferior opposition, this allows rotation of the pack and to experiment with young players, who may be a huge part of the national side's future.

First up at Wembley is a Malta side who sit rock bottom of the group, without a single point in their opening seven games and a total goal difference of -16.

Michele Marcolini's minnows will look to find positives on Friday night but could find themselves playing damage-limitation from the first kick of the ball.

For England, there will be much bigger challenges to come next summer but a bucketload of goals in front of an appreciative home audience would keep the momentum ticking over.

Team news

Gareth Southgate has seen a number of his original squad drop out of the reckoning with injuries, including the in-form attacking midfielder duo James Maddison and Jude Bellingham. Also missing are left backs Luke Shaw and Ben Chilwell, central defenders Levi Colwill and Lewis Dunk, as well as striker Callum Wilson.

This has thrown up debut call-ups for talented youngsters Ezri Konza, Rico Lewis and Cole Palmer.

Match odds

As expected, England are HUGE favourites to win this one at just 1/80, with the visitors a massive 66/1 underdog. The draw is a more reasonable 16/1 shot, if you fancy Malta to hold Southgate's men to a stalemate. Goals look virtually guaranteed, with over 2.5 at just 1/6 and even over 4.5 trading at sub evens (10/11).

Both Teams to Score looks unlikely at 7/2, with No as short as 1/6.

England -4 Handicap - 6/5

I can't see anything other than sheer domination and an absolute drubbing for the Maltese here.

The Reds have only scored once in their history against the English and have conceded a total of 18 times across six fixtures.

However, the gap is growing larger and the  last two fixtures, both on Maltese soil have seen England win 4-0.

I expect the Three Lions to be on the front foot from the kick-off and put Malta to the sword.

England to win 5-0 - 5/1

The last time there two faced off in England in a European Championship qualifier was way back in 1971, which ended in a 5-0 drubbing for the visitors.

I'm going to plump for the same scoreline at Wembley Stadium on Friday evening.
