Championship Predictions: Wrexham can start building some momentum

We head into Gameweek 7 of the Championship this weekend and Nick is still clear at the top of our predictions leaderboard. I, Conor, and Simon have got work to do to close the gap but last week's results were unforgiving.
Below you can find our latest Championship predictions.

West Bromwich Albion vs Leicester City (Friday 20:00 BST) - 1-1 @ 11/2
West Bromwich Albion have suffered back-to-back defeats in the Championship and they will look to get back to winning ways when they return to The Hawthorns on Friday night to face Leicester City.
The Foxes are also winless in their last two but they have at least come away with two points. I am expecting a cagey affair in the West Midlands and I think a stalemate could be on the cards.
Nick: 1-1
Simon: 0-1
Coventry City vs Birmingham City (Saturday 12:30 BST) - 2-1 @ 15/2
Coventry City have won their last two home meetings with Birmingham City, and I think this trend may continue at the CBS Arena on Saturday. The Sky Blues are one of two sides still unbeaten in the second tier and boss Frank Lampard will hope to keep that streak going.
The hosts were held to a goalless draw at Leicester City last time out to make it three draws on the spin - and so I was tempted to go with a 1-1 draw. However, Birmingham have not been convincing on their travels so far this season, even with their late win at Blackburn Rovers in August.
If they have another slow start on the road, they may open the door for Coventry to get back to winning ways.
Nick: 4-2
Simon: 3-1
Swansea City vs Millwall (Saturday 12:30 BST) - 1-1 @ 5/1
After suffering a late defeat at Birmingham last weekend, Swansea City will hope for an immediate response when they welcome Millwall to South Wales. The Lions were 1-0 victors over Watford on Monday in what was a fine display from Alex Neil's men.
There are things to like about both these squads and so I believe they may cancel one another out.
Nick: 1-1
Simon: 1-0
Wrexham vs Derby County (Saturday 12:30 BST) - 2-1 @ 8/1
Wrexham landed an impressive away victory at Norwich City last week and they will look to build on it back on home soil when they host Derby County. The Rams have won just once in the league so far this campaign but they have taken four points from their previous two away matches.
It will be another tough test for Wrexham, but I believe the money they spent over the summer will help them to another three points.
Nick: 3-1
Simon: 3-2
Charlton Athletic vs Blackburn Rovers (Saturday 15:00 BST) - 1-0 @ 6/1
Charlton Athletic picked up their second win of the season last week as they won 1-0 at Sheffield United in Chris Wilder's (third) first game in charge as manager. The Addicks will look to make it two in a row as Blackburn Rovers make the trip to The Valley.
The visitors are waiting to find out what will happen to their game with Ipswich last time out, which was suspended after heavy rainfall. They will be a tough nut to crack for Charlton but I believe the hosts will have enough to snatch another victory at home.
Nick: 2-0
Simon: 0-0

Ipswich Town vs Portsmouth (Saturday 15:00 BST) - 2-1 @ 7/1
Ipswich delivered their best home performance of the season two weeks ago as they thrashed Sheffield United 5-0. Boss Kieran McKenna will be looking for a similar performance at Portman Road as Portsmouth make the trip to East Anglia.
The visitors were beaten at home to Sheffield Wednesday last time out, and I get the sense they will be there for the taking against Ipswich.
Nick: 2-1
Simon: 2-0
Oxford United vs Sheffield United (Saturday 15:00 BST) - 1-1 @ 11/2
Wilder will be hoping his second game with the Blades will go better than the first, but a trip to Oxford United won't be easy. The U's are unbeaten in their last three outings in the Championship, winning their first game of the season at Bristol City last week.
Sheffield United are not the side Wilder left in the summer and it will take some time for him to tighten them up, so I think the hosts can get at least a point here.
Nick: 1-1
Simon: 1-2
Preston North End vs Bristol City (Saturday 15:00 BST) - 1-1 @ 5/1
Preston North End have surprised most with their start to the season. The Lilywhites have lost just one of their six league matches so far. They are unbeaten at Deepdale and they will look to keep this run going when Bristol City come to town.
The Robins were left stunned on home soil last weekend as they were beaten 3-1 by Oxford United. They were unbeaten in five matches before that and they will look for a response here - but a point might be the best they can hope for.
Nick: 1-1
Simon: 0-0

Sheffield Wednesday vs Queens Park Rangers (Saturday 15:00 BST) - 1-2 @ 18/1
Sheffield Wednesday secured their first league win of the season at Portsmouth last time out, and the Owls will be hoping they can build on that when they return to Hillsborough on Saturday, where they face Queens Park Rangers.
The Rs have won three games on the bounce and they head to South Yorkshire with a lot of confidence, especially after beating high-flying Stoke City last time out. I think they will be able to beat Wednesday, who tend to perform better on their travels.
Nick: 1-2
Simon: 0-3
Southampton vs Middlesbrough (Saturday 15:00 BST) - 1-1 @ 11/2
Southampton are still waiting to get into their rhythm as the relegated Premier League side have still won just one game in the Championship this term. They face a tough fixture on Saturday as table-toppers Middlesbrough make the trip to St. Mary's.
I'm still to be convinced by Will Still's Saints but they still have a lot of individual talent within their ranks. Boro have been effective in this first month but I don't believe they are a magnificent football team, either.
There are weaknesses that can be exploited and if Southampton turn up, they may be able to take a point from them.
Nick: 2-1
Simon: 1-2
Stoke City vs Norwich City (Saturday 15:00 BST) - 2-1 @ 15/2
Stoke City were beaten at QPR last weekend and they will look to get back to winning ways when they welcome Norwich City to the bet365 Stadium on Saturday. The Canaries were beaten at home to Wrexham last week and they have lost all three of their home league games to date.
Boss Liam Manning is already coming under fire and a defeat in the Potteries could put his position under further threat. Stoke have won two of their three home fixtures to date and I think they will come out on top here.
Nick: 1-1
Simon: 2-1
Watford vs Hull City (Saturday 15:00 BST) - 2-1 @ 8/1
Watford fell to a defeat at Millwall on Monday and next up for them is a home clash with Hull City, who were surprising 3-1 winners over Southampton last time out.
Watford are without a win in their past four outings in the second tier but Hull are still yet to win a match on the road. The Hornets will be hoping this can work in their favour on Saturday, so I am backing them to edge this contest.
Nick: 2-1
Simon: 2-0
