Ecuador vs Venezuela Betting Tips

  • Ecuador and both teams to score @ 18/5
  • Over 2.5 goals @ 11/8

Ecuador vs Venezuela Odds

Ecuador are 4/5 to take the victory here, which gives them an implied probability of 55.6%. Venezuela are priced at 100/30, giving them a theoretical chance of 23.1%. The draw can be backed at 11/5 (31.3%).

Both teams to score is on offer at 11/10 and over 2.5 goals is marketed at 11/8.

Ecuador captain Enner Valencia is his country's all-time leading goalscorer with 41. and is often their source of inspiration out on the pitch. He has five goals in 14 Copa America outings so far, and he is valued at 7/5 to score anytime here.

Salomon Rondon, Venezuela's centre-forward is also his nation's all-time leading marksman with 41 goals, and he himself has netted four goals in 17 Copa America appearances. The 34-year-old is 13/5 to score anytime in this contest.

Team News

Ecuador captain Valencia is going to lead the line for his team because he carries their biggest goal threat as well as being their leader.

He could be supported in attack by John Yeboah and Jeremy Sarmiento who scored in friendlies against Bolivia and Honduras respectively, in the build up to the tournament. Sarmiento had an impressive season in the Championship with two different loan spells at West Bromwich Albion and Ipswich Town.

The wide man showed that even if he doesn't start, he can make a huge impact from the bench, which could be really beneficial to La Tri this summer. Chelsea's Moises Caicedo looks set to feature in the heart of midfield.

Rondon is sure to lead the line for Venezuela because of his own goal record, and the physical presence he brings in the final third. He was a second-half substitute in the last warm-up match which would suggest he was being rested to start in this clash.

Captain Tomas Rincon is sure to play in his usual midfield role. Defender Yangel Herrera could have a huge role to play after a strong season with Girona, helping the Spanish club qualify for the Champions League for the first time in its history.

Ecuador and both teams to score @ 18/5

I am leaning towards Ecuador to win this opening fixture because I think that their squad edges that of Venezuela's in terms of quality, but I do predict this will be a close encounter in which both teams will score.

The pair did meet in the group stage at the last edition three years ago and played out a 2-2 draw, which La Vinotinto salvaged in injury time. The head-to-head record is fairly close across all competitions. Ecuador have won 17 to Venezuela's 12, while there have been seven draws.

I think there are more players in the Ecuador squad who can make a difference in the final third, and they are players I have already mentioned in Valencia, Yeboah and Sarmiento. Then there is the energy from Caicedo in midfield, that quality should be enough to get La Tri off to a winning start.

Ecuador and both teams to score at 18/5 Over 2.5 goals @ 11/8

I do think this will be a tight encounter, however, and I think we will be in for a couple of goals on Saturday. I do see Venezuela scoring as Ecuador do not boast the strongest of defences at this year's Copa America, and I do see Rondon making himself a nuisance.

Over 2.5 goals has landed in two of the last four meetings between these two teams, which bodes well for a goalfest this weekend. Venezuela recently took part in a three-goal game when they lost to Italy in a friendly.

In addition, Ecuador have seen at least three goals scored in their last two matches.
