Team News

Dynamo will have to make do without central defender Maksym Dyachuk (shoulder) and midfielder Volodymyr Shepelev (muscle strain).

Striker Fernando, defender Leandro Morgalla (both hamstring), centre-forward Karim Konate (knee) and attacking midfielder Dijon Kameri (foot) are out of contention for the away side.

Dynamo Kiev are 7/4 to win the first leg with Salzburg 7/5 and the draw priced up at 12/5.

Over 2.5 goals is available to back at 8/13 and Salzburg’s Maurits Kjaergaard, who has notched three goals in his last two Champions League appearances, is 11/1 to be first goalscorer.

Salzburg to win @ 7/5

Salzburg have contested the Champions League group stage for five consecutive seasons and they can boost their chances of reaching the league phase of the expanded 2024-25 competition by defeating Dynamo Kyiv at the Arena Lublin in Poland.

Having to play home games on neutral territory makes life harder for Dynamo, who have done well to see off Partizan Belgrade and Rangers in the qualifying rounds.

However, the Ukrainians face a step up against Salzburg, who have high hopes of reaching the league phase and making a significant impact thereafter.

Salzburg’s 5-4 aggregate success over FC Twente in the previous round was fairly comfortable until a late rally from the Dutch side, who netted twice in the final 30 minutes of the second leg.

Pep Lijnders’ side are top of their domestic league with nine points from three games and they look solid 7/5 shots to secure a lead before next Wednesday’s second leg in Austria.

Salzburg to win at 7-5

Bet Builder - Salzburg to score over 1.5 goals, Salzburg to keep a clean sheet & Oscar Gloukh to score anytime @ 21/1

Salzburg will have a healthy respect for Dynamo Kyiv but they are an attack-minded side and have every chance of scoring a couple of goals in the opening leg.

Lijnders’ side were 5-4 aggregate winners over FC Twente in the third-qualifying round and scored the majority of their goals in the second leg 3-3 draw on Dutch soil.

However, they showed defensive prowess when winning 1-0 away to LASK in the Austrian Bundesliga on Saturday and are not without hope of shutting out Dynamo, who appear to lack star quality in the attacking third.

Dynamo’s main threat comes from 22-year-old forward Vladyslav Vanat, who scored 14 goals in the Ukrainian top flight last term.

But there are multiple threats in the Salzburg front line, including high class Israel international forward Oscar Gloukh, who has every chance of getting on the scoresheet.
