Team News

Dundee are close to having Joe Shaughnessy and Ziyad Larkeche back in mix, but this game will come too soon for the injured duo.

With two wins and a draw from their last four games, boss Tony Docherty is unlikely to deviate too much from his regular set-up.

In the opposite dugout, Stuart Kettlewell continues to have his problems as Callum Slattery, Paul McGinn, Ross Callachan, Sam Nicholson, Stephen O'Donnell and Jack Vale are all likely absentees.

Successive losses against Ross County and Hibernian have dampened the mood around Motherwell.

Tony Watt and Zach Robinson were introduced at half-time in the 3-0 home loss against Hibs and they, along with Steve Seddon, could be handed starts as the Well boss has plenty to ponder.

Dundee are installed as favourites to get all three points at 11/10 for this Dens Park tussle, while Motherwell can be backed at 12/5 and the draw is priced at 5/2.

It could be a tense battle, with under 2.5 goals priced at 1/1, while both teams to score is priced at 8/13.

Motherwell have only managed 16 goals in their 13 league games and a Dundee win to nil here is priced at 11/4.

Dundee to win to nil @ 11/4

Motherwell have lacked consistency this season and the Fir Park side also find it difficult to get goals. Their tally of 16 so far in 13 Scottish Premiership games is only better than Ross County.

Kettlewell and his side have drawn blanks against the likes of County and basement club Hibs in the league, while they were beaten 1-0 at home when Dundee visited Lanarkshire in October.

They needed penalties to beat lower tier outfits Montrose and Patrick Thistle in the League Cup and extra-time to edge out Kilmarnock after a scoreless 90 minutes.

Dundee have found the net in eight of their last nine games in the league, the exception coming in the 2-0 defeat at Celtic in late October.

They have only lost one of the last six head-to-heads and if they can keep their excellent scoring run going, it might be more than enough to see off goal-shy Motherwell.

Seb Palmer-Houlden to score first @ 11/2

Bristol City loanee Seb Palmer-Houlden is enjoying himself at Dundee and is proving a threat, with seven goals in 18 appearances for the Dark Blues.

He notched five of those before mid-August, including one in his first Tayside derby during a 2-2 with Dundee United at Tannadice.

Things stalled for the 20-year-old after that and he was mostly restricted to coming off the bench, but he has forced his way back into the starting XI now and has two goals in four recent starts, scoring against Killie and Hibs in Dundee's two most recent wins.

He's a 9/5 chance to find the net anytime against Motherwell but, with goals not expected to flow, the extra value on the young Englishman breaking the deadlock is appealing.
