Read on for my Dundee vs Dundee United predictions, plus the latest team news and match odds.
Dundee are 13/8 chances, Dundee United are 8/5 shots and the draw is available at 12/5 in a tight betting heat.
Team News
Ziyad Larkeche, Scott Fraser, Clark Robertson, Joe Shaughnessy and Antonio Portales are all out for a Dundee side decimated by injuries.
Jordan McGhee and Billy Koumetio were both forced off the field against St Mirren at the weekend and are now major doubts. Luke Graham has been recalled from a loan move at Falkrik and should be available.
Louis Moult and Craig Sibbald will miss the short trip to Dens Park, but Declan Gallagher is back from suspension.
Dundee United to win @ 13/10
Dundee have won only five of their last 18 matches and the Dark Blues are in freefall. Docherty’s side arrested the slide when beating St Mirren last time out, but it could be derby day pain for Dundee.
Injuries have played a major part in the Dark Blues’ downfall, with a whole host of first-team players out injured and centre-back duo Jordan McGhee and Billy Koumetio were both forced off the field against St Mirren at the weekend, to make matters worse.
Docherty lost star midfielder Luke McCowan to Celtic in August and it’s looking like a threadbare Dundee squad.
Dundee United are pushing hard for a top-three finish this season and the Terrors have impressed in recent wins over St Johnstone and Aberdeen.
The Tangerines should be able to take advantage of a depleted Dundee squad and secure derby day honours.

Dundee United over 2.5 goals @ 7/2
With defenders Larkeche, Robertson, Shaughnessy and Portales out with injuries and McGhee and Koumetio major doubts that’s potentially five centre-backs and a full-back missing for Dundee.
It could get messy for the Dark Blues, given those absentees, and Dundee United look worth a punt to score three or more goals.
