It’s fast becoming a source of major embarrassment for the Scottish Premiership as Dundee attempt to play their home game against Rangers for the third time. Two previous call-offs have upset Gers, and Betfred’s Frank Monkhouse expects a response.

Once more the game will be shown live on Sky Sports with a kick-off time slated for 20:00 this Wednesday evening. Our Scottish Football expert previews the encounter and gives us his Dundee vs Rangers predictions...

Dundee vs Rangers Betting Tips

  • Both teams to score @ 10/11
  • Both score and Rangers win @ 7/4

Dundee has kept everyone waiting as they must play their game against Rangers before the Premiership season can move into its top and bottom six-split.

After 33 games, the top six teams in the division will play each other once more while the bottom six play another five games, taking the total to 38 games. Finishing in the top six earns teams another money-spinning tie with the Old Firm and a chance to win one of the European places, while the bottom six decide the relegation places.

Rangers worked their way back into title contention under manager Philippe Clement, but it appears the Gers may have thrown it away. They enter this game four points behind Celtic, and after winning just one of their last four at such a crucial stage of the campaign, some fans have accused the players of choking. They lost 3-2 to lowly Ross County for the first time on Sunday, piling pressure on James Tavernier and his misfiring teammates.

Dundee vs Rangers Odds

It’s the game all of Scottish football would like to see the back of, and it will finally be sorted this midweek. Dundee secured a top-six finish in their first season back in the top flight of Scottish football despite playing their home games on a pitch that resembles a farmer’s field. They could climb as high as fifth but are winless in two and have taken just eight of the last 15 points available. The home win is as big as 11/1 on the Betfred site and app.

Rangers lost to Motherwell and drew 3-3 with Celtic, both at home, before suffering that shock loss in Dingwall on Sunday afternoon. Fans voiced their anger at the end of play and will demand much better on Wednesday evening against Dundee.

The manager won’t admit it with six games to play, but this is a must-win for the visitors. Fancy them to do the job? You can back Rangers at 2/9 or try the draw at a chunky 5/1.

Both teams to score @ 10/11

The Rangers' defence has been nothing short of disastrous in recent weeks, leaking six goals in two games this month. Even with Jack Butland in goal, such a weak backline will cost Rangers any chance they have of challenging Celtic for the title, and it could already be too late. Has the damage been done? Gers must win here and every game between now and the finish line to trouble Brendan Rodgers across the city.

Backing both teams to score would’ve landed you a profit in each of Rangers’ previous five league starts, a run stretching back to a 5-0 home win over Hearts on Saturday, 24th February. The same bet would’ve landed when these sides met at Ibrox in December, when Gers won 3-1 despite losing the first goal. Back both teams to score in your midweek accumulators, or add Dundee vs Rangers to your Goals Galore coupon.

Both score and Rangers win @ 7/4

Sticking with both teams to score and we’ll add a Rangers win into the mix. There’s very little to support backing the visitors, given their recent collapse, leaking three goals against Celtic and Ross County, two teams they were expected to beat. But all the pressure is on the away dressing room, and a response is essential.

For a midweek interest, back both teams to score and Rangers to win. Gers are capable of finding the net, as they showed when scoring five goals in two games, and they should bite back to silence their critics and move to within a point of Celtic. Dundee scored two in their last home game when losing 3-2 against Motherwell, which adds weight to our pick.
