Doncaster Rovers host Salford City at the Eco-Power Stadium in League 2 on Saturday (15:00, Sky Sports+), and they have the chance to join league leaders Port Vale on 30 points. Rovers are unbeaten in their last two matches and will look to build on their 1-1 draw with promotion rivals Notts County last time out.

Salford have failed to win in their last two matches but they had won two on the bounce before that, and they have a cosy nine-point gap between them and the relegation zone. Read on for my Doncaster Rovers vs Salford City prediction, including the latest match odds and team news.

Doncaster Rovers vs Salford City Betting Tips

  • Doncaster Rovers and under 2.5 goals @ 11/4
  • Both teams to score - No @ 10/11

Doncaster Rovers vs Salford City Odds

Doncaster are 4/6, or a 60% chance, to win this match. Salford are priced at 4/1 to take the three points, giving them an implied probability of 20%. The draw is available at 3/1 (25%).

Both teams to score is on offer at 4/5 and over 2.5 goals can be backed at 5/6.

Doncaster winger Luke Molyneux has scored six goals in League 2 this season, and he is marketed at 7/4 to score anytime on Saturday. His teammate and veteran striker Billy Sharp has four for himself, and he is 13/8 to find the back of the net at any stage during this contest.

Team News

After coming off the bench to score and rescue a point for his side against Notts County last weekend, Joe Ironside will be pushing for a start against Salford. Grant McCann could decide to deploy him up front to hand a rest to stalwart forward Sharp.

Influential winger Molyneux will continue on the right flank. He may be Rovers' top scorer in the league but he has only scored in four matches this season, having netted two braces against Accrington Stanley and Port Vale.

The Accrington game came at home at the very birth of the 2024/25 campaign, and the wide man has failed to score at home in the league since. He will be looking to change that when Salford come to town.

West Ham United loanee Patrick Kelly and Owen Bailey should continue in the engine room for the hosts, while Harry Clifton and Kyle Hurst are expected to keep their places in the attacking midfield spots alongside Molyneux.

Doncaster have no fresh injury concerns heading into the weekend.

For Salford, boss Karl Robinson could be tempted to make a few changes to his side after two league games without a win. They were victorious against Wolverhampton Wanderers U21s in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday, which will have given the squad a lift ahead of this tough trip to Yorkshire.

Defender James Chester remains out of action for the hosts, so Stephan Negru, Curtis Tilt and Luke Garbutt could be the back three again.

Cole Stockton could return to the starting lineup in the league after scoring in midweek, likely in place of Francis Okoronkwo. Recalls are expected for Tyrese Fornah, Haji Mnoga, Jon Taylor, Ossama Ashley and Josh Austerfield amongst others.

Doncaster Rovers and under 2.5 goals @ 11/4

Apart from the Accrington game at the beginning of the season, in which they won 4-1, Doncaster haven't been able to blow any other teams away when playing at home.

Their three other wins at the Eco-Power Stadium have been by a 1-0 scoreline. The only other home game they have experienced with three or more goals came in a 3-0 defeat to Chesterfield at the end of September.

They have lost just one other game here, a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Bromley, while they picked up their first draw against Notts County last time out. They are certainly a tough nut to crack at home, but their recent victories have always allowed their opponents to stay in games because they have been unable to put it beyond their reach.

I think it will be a while yet before we see McCann's players produce a result similar to the Accrington game, but I think we could see them potentially break the 1-0 cycle here on Saturday. I'm not holding my breath but I've covered under 2.5 goals just in case.

They have mostly been strong defensively when playing at home, and I think this can help them to another three points against a Salford side who are consistently unpredictable.

Under 2.5 goals has been a winning selection in six of their eight home matches to date, so I fancy this trend to continue at the weekend. There have also been less than three goals scored in four of Salford's seven matches on the road in the fourth tier this term.

Both teams to score - No @ 10/11

Doncaster have conceded just seven goals in eight matches at home this season, while posting three clean sheets in the process, so this is going to be one of Salford's toughest away days of the campaign.

For that reason, I think both teams to score - no is worth backing here. Rovers have largely been strong at the back, and up against a Salford team that constantly blows hot and cold, I think they will have what it takes to record a fourth clean sheet.

Five of Doncaster's eight matches at home have seen this market land, while BTTS - no has been a winning selection just twice on the road for the visitors. That doesn't concern me given the hosts' defensive record at this ground so far, so I fancy them to shut out Robinson's men.
