Derby vs QPR Prediction: Warne’s men can bag another home win

Derby County lost their perfect home record to Norwich City recently, but they will look to get back to winning ways as they host a QPR side (15:00, Saturday) who haven’t kicked on as expected this term. Marti Cifuentes was seen as one of the top gaffers in the league after rescuing QPR from relegation last season but his stock is falling, and results are needed.
Below you can find my Derby vs QPR predictions, featuring team news and betting tips.
Team News
Derby certainly posed a threat at Sunderland despite their 2-0 defeat, but Paul Warne is likely to switch back to a back four on home soil, having deployed three centre-backs at the Stadium of Light. Nat Phillips is likely to drop out in favour of Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, with Kayden Jackson and Corey Blackett-Taylor also pushing to get back into the XI. Warne will be targeting this game as one to get three points in, having set up conservatively in midweek.
Meanwhile, Cifuentes is searching for answers to QPR’s poor form. Ilias Chair could come into the side but Michael Frey should continue up front after an impressive start to life in England. Karamoko Dembele is also an option on the wing as the R’s look to get some points on the board with a positive display.
Derby are priced at 7/5 to win this one, with QPR available at 15/8 and a draw available to back at 12/5. BTTS is 4/5 and over 2.5 goals is 1/1.
Under 2.5 goals @ 8/11
I don’t think that this game is likely to contain loads of goals based on what we have seen so far. Three of QPR’s last four league games have finished under 2.5 goals, with that home defeat to Hull the only exception. Meanwhile, three of the last four Derby encounters have also ended with fewer than 2.5 goals, so there’s not a massive amount of goalscoring confidence on either side.
I like Frey as a forward but QPR aren’t making the most of his physical attributes, while Cifuentes’ side are unlikely to go out and smash a side with how they are playing. Meanwhile, Derby’s home form suggests they might be able to nick this one, and two of their four home matches so far have ended in a 1-0 success. I think we will see a similar scoreline in this one.

Derby to win @ 7/5
I will back Derby to come out on top given the odds on offer. I think Warne has set his side up really well at home for the majority of the campaign so far, and they were even unfortunate to lose 3-2 to Norwich given the ball was clearly out of play for Borja Sainz’s opener.
They responded to going behind well and have shown far more going forward than many thought this term, given they were one of the favourites to return to League 1 after their promotion. Warne is able to set his team up to be organised and they look like a cohesive and competitive unit, which is more than can be said for a couple of teams at this level right now.
They can outfight a QPR team that is out of sorts.
