Darwin Nunez Transfer Odds: Napoli have shown great interest
Darwin Nunez could be headed for a Liverpool exit this summer after three years at the club. His £64m arrival from Benfica in 2022 has not been as successful as everyone would have hoped but he has still managed to pick up two pieces of silverware.
With the Reds reportedly pushing to receive £70m for the Uruguayan international, a deal may be tricky for a lot of clubs. However, I assess some of the potential destinations below using Betfred's Darwin Nunez Transfer Odds.
Darwin Nunez Transfer Odds
Napoli @ 1/8
So far the only rumour with any substance regarding Nunez is Napoli. The newly-crowned Serie A champions are looking to tighten their grip on Italian football by bolstering their ranks over the summer and it seems Antonio Conte is a fan of Liverpool's underwhelming front man.
Reports suggest that the fee is the biggest sticking point for a deal being agreed, despite Nunez apparently giving the green light for a switch to Naples. Napoli were said to be wanting to go no higher than £40m, which is of course £30m short of what Liverpool are seeking.
If no other club comes in closer to the Reds' valuation, this saga could drag on throughout the window when perhaps a compromise may be found.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
Atletico Madrid @ 5/1
A move to Atletico Madrid has been murmured for some time even though there have been no concrete reports to support them. This has likely stemmed from Liverpool having an interest in Atleti forward Julian Alvarez, formerly of Manchester City.
The Reds were fans of the Argentine international when he was playing for the Citizens but they were priced out of a move for him while he was playing for their Premier League rivals.
If they are still after Alvarez, they may be inclined to offer Nunez as part of a swap deal. However, it does not look like Atleti are in need of adding to their current ranks with Alvarez, Alexander Sorloth and Antoine Griezmann their current forward options.
Any Saudi club @ 8/1
This is where it could get interesting. If Liverpool are desperate for £70m for Nunez it seems the only teams who would be willing to pay that are based in Saudi Arabia.
Al-Nassr are likely to be in need of a new striker soon as Jhon Duran, formerly of Aston Villa, looks to be returning to Europe after six months. It is said that he has been unable to settle in Saudi Arabia and the Colombian now looks set to join Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce.
Duran cost Al-Nassr £65m in January and it felt like a move to the Saudi Pro League was inevitable, purely on the basis of Villa's valuation of the youngster. They were able to get it, mind, so Liverpool may be hoping for something similar - if they can get Nunez on board.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
AC Milan @ 20/1
AC Milan interestingly dropped from 33/1 to 20/1 in the market this morning, suggesting a lot of people are backing this transfer to happen. There are no reports to indicate such a thing but AC Milan will soon have an opening in the strikers' department.
Tammy Abraham is on the cusp of joining Besiktas, which would free up a spot for Nunez in the Rossoneri's ranks if they were interested and had the funds to get him.
Inter Milan @ 33/1
Their rivals Inter Milan are also in the list and while nothing is confirmed yet, there have been rumours about captain Lautaro Martinez's future at San Siro and if he were to move on to pastures new, as well as the fact that Marko Arnautovic has already left the club, Inter will be in need of stocking up on forwards.
