Crystal Palace are back in action on Sunday afternoon, live on Sky Sports Main Event (14:00), as they host London rivals Brentford at Selhurst Park. Palace are unbeaten in their last six games in all competitions while the Bees lost late on to Liverpool last time out, with Darwin Nunez striking twice in injury time.

Below I’ve put together some Crystal Palace vs Brentford Bet Builder Tips for you to consider, as 11th takes on 12th in the Premier League.

Crystal Palace vs Brentford Bet Builder

  • Crystal Palace to win
  • Over 2.5 goals
  • Jean-Philippe Mateta to score
  • Will Hughes to get booked

Bet Builder pays 16/1

Crystal Palace to win

On balance, I’m going to back the home side to come out with three points on Sunday. Let’s kick our Bet Builder off with a Palace win, given they have won their last three games without conceding a goal, and they are also on a run of six fixtures without defeat in all competitions.

At Selhurst Park so far this season they have only won two from 11, but I think that will start to change as confidence rises amongst this squad. Meanwhile Brentford have a poor away record, having only won one of their 10 matches on the road, while they’ve also only won one of their last nine games in all competitions - away at Southampton. Home win.

Over 2.5 goals

Brentford and goals go together pretty well this season, and given the attacking quality on show I am happy to add over 2.5 goals to the mix. It has come in during 16 of Brentford’s 22 Premier League matches so far in 2024/25, giving them a success rate of 73 per cent - a total only Wolverhampton Wanderers can better.

With the addition of Romain Esse and Jean-Philippe Mateta finding form again, I think Palace will be a strong attacking outfit - but I wouldn’t back against Brentford also finding the net with the likes of Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa always dangerous. Hopefully a Sunday special delivers some goals.

Jean-Phllipe Mateta to score

Mateta is the man of the moment having scored a brace in the 2-0 win over West Ham last time out. He ended the 2023/24 campaign in flying form under Oliver Glasner, and potentially hasn’t hit the heights many expected this term. Having said that, he now has eight goals to his name and will hope a strong second half of the season can carry his side into the top half of the table.

I think he will get some joy against a Brentford defence that has conceded 39 goals so far this term. He’s got all the attributes to find the net in this game and inspire his side to an important home success.

Will Hughes to get booked

Let’s round off this Bet Builder, priced at 16/1, by picking out a player to get carded. The prime candidate in my eyes has to be combative Palace midfielder Will Hughes, who has already picked up seven yellows this term. That total is the highest number from either side, while he has committed 39 fouls in the process, the sixth-highest total in the entire league.

He is going to have to get through a lot of work if Palace are to be successful, and I can see him straying into the referee’s notebook before the 90 minutes is up.
