Crawley Town vs Huddersfield Town Prediction: Terriers to bounce back from FA Cup shocker

League 1 continues at the weekend and seventh-placed Huddersfield Town are looking to get back on track following their shock loss to Tamworth in the FA Cup first round. They travel south once again, to a Crawley side that is struggling to stay in the third tier.
Our own Yorkshire Terrier Adam Roberts is on hand to preview this one and he's given us his Crawley Town vs Huddersfield Town Predictions, as well as all the latest odds, stats and team news.
Crawley vs Huddersfield Betting Tips
I'm glad it's been a full week since that sorry night in Staffordshire, as I've finally managed to calm down following one of the worst performances ever seen by a Huddersfield Town side, which saw a decisive Chris Maxwell own goal, after punching a 'Tom Tonks Thunderbolt Throw-in' in to his own net. It ranks right up there with the 1-0 loss in the FA Cup to non-league Accrington Stanley in 2003 and the 4-0 loss to Macclesfield Town in the very same year.
Those were dark times for the Terriers, following administration and relegation to the fourth tier of English football but were followed by a first-time promotion at the Millennium Stadium just a few months later. Can this Town squad bounce-back in a similar fashion, put that horrendous result and performance behind them and return to the Championship at the first time of asking?
A good start would be to quickly exorcise those demons of last Friday with three points against a struggling Crawley Town, who are sat in the relegation spots, possessing just 11 points from their 14 games thus far this season. Manager Rob Elliot has had a tough start to his tenure in West Sussex, since signing a two-and-a-half-year deal back in early October, with five losses in seven games and just the solitary victory against Lincoln City.
The 38-year-old will be hoping Town make the long five-hour journey south with bad memories and a continued hangover from that Tamworth embarrassment on terrestrial TV. For his opponent in the dugouts, Michael Duff - he will demand an immediate improvement from his misfiring squad.
Team news
Elliot is suffering from a large injury list, with numerous Red Devils unavailable for selection and in his recent press conference he stated there was unlikely to be any movement on that front.
Duff has finally had some good news on the injury front, with the likes of strikers Josh Koroma and Rhys Healey being fully fit, as well as encouragement in the form of star defender Michal Helik being back in full training. However, central midfielders Jonathan Hogg (knee) and Antony Evans (toe) look unlikely to feature after picking up knocks in training.

Crawley Town are the outsiders for this one at 100/30 to pick up three points, giving them an implied chance of victory of around 21%, while Huddersfield are the 4/5 favourites, or a 55% chance.
The draw is available at a price of 11/4, with both teams to score at 4/6 and over 2.5 goals at 8/11. Koroma and Healey are the favourites in the goalscorer markets but it appears unclear if either man will start.
Huddersfield to win to Nil @ 21/10
This may seem a little bit of a strange selection given Huddersfield have just conceded to a bunch of part-timers and the fact that BTTS is just 4/6. However, bear with me.
Prior to that cup shock, Town had conceded just two goals in their last five league games and had registered three clean sheets, showing their defensive solidity is actually in rude health.
Here they come up against a Crawley side that have lost four out of seven games at Broadfield Stadium this year, haven't scored in their last two and are averaging just 0.86 goals per game in their first season at this level.
When you put the two arguments together and expect the Terriers to be bang up for this one, following last week, I like the odds on offer of 21/10 for them to win to nil.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
Josh Koroma anytime goal scorer @ 8/5
Now, first of all, please check the line-ups at 14:00 and cash out this selection if Koroma remains on the bench but if he starts like I think he will, it has a really good chance.
The Sierra Leone international was an unused substitute for the Tamworth horror-show, which suggests he was fit to play and Duff should rotate his pack here, given that Callum Marshall, Danny Ward, Bojan Radulovic and Freddie Ladapo couldn't make a difference in Staffordshire.
Pre-back injury, Koroma looked in very good nick and quickly registered four goals for the season, amongst a glut of good chances. IF he starts here, he should find plenty of opportunities against a leaky back-line.
The 25-year-old is averaging three shots per game at this level and he usually finds a way to bag one of them.
