Chile host Paraguay in a crucial game in World Cup qualification, with kick-off at 00:30 on Friday morning. Below we have taken a look at the fixture and given a couple of betting selections for you to consider.

Chile vs Paraguay Tips

  • Under 1.5 goals @ 13/8
  • Chile 0-0 Paraguay @ 6/1

Team News

Ben Brereton Diaz and Alexis Sanchez are likely to turn out for La Roja, while Marcelino Nunez of Norwich City will miss this one having been shown a straight red card against Venezuela last time out.

Paraguay are struggling for goals, and Oscar Cardozo, at 40 years old is still included in the squad. Gaston Giminez and Diego Gomez, both currently playing in the MLS, could add to the appearances they have made so far.

Match Odds

Chile are 4/5 to win this match, while Paraguay are 10/3 to take all three points. A draw can be backed at 21/10, BTTS is 6/5 and over 2.5 goals is 11/8

Under 1.5 goals @ 13/8

These are two poor sides when it comes to scoring goals. Chile have failed to score in two of their last three qualifiers, while Paraguay have managed to score a measly one goal across four games so far. This is a game that is unlikely to feature much action at either end and I can see this petering out in a fairly stale encounter.

Chile have lost the attacking impetus that made them so exciting a few years ago and now they are rather boring to watch. Paraguay are a poorer version of Chile in my eyes, and this could well end goalless.

Chile 0-0 Paraguay @ 6/1

Given what we have seen so far, the 6/1 on offer for 0-0 is fairly generous. These two are 7th and 8th respectively in the qualification group and both are unlikely to make it to the World Cup in 2026. Given the lack of attacking options on both sides, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see both sides fail to score.

The 0-0 on offer here makes for good value given Paraguay’s only goal so far has come at home against lowly Bolivia. As a result, we can expect them to fail to score again. They have done reasonably well defensively and it isn’t out of the question that they can keep Chile out.
