Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers lock horns at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon (14:00), as both sides are looking to bounce back from midweek defeats.

Mauricio Pochettino's men were thumped 4-1 at Anfield, while Wolves were on the wrong side of a seven-goal thriller with Manchester United, eventually losing to a Kobbie Mainoo stoppage-time winner.

Chelsea vs Wolves Prediction

  • Chelsea to win and over 2.5 goals @ 5/4
  • Both teams to score @ 8/11

Team News

Nicolas Jackson is expected to return to the matchday squad for Chelsea, after Senegal's elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations, however, the hosts are still without Levi Colwill, Lesley Ugochukwu, Wesley Fofana, Marc Cucurella, Reece James, Romeo Lavia, Robert Sanchez and Trevoh Chalobah.

As for Wolves, they have no major injury worries, but Mali's Boubacar Traore and South Korea's Hwang Hee-chan are still away on international duty for their countries.

Match Odds

Chelsea are favourites for the game at 3/5, with the draw priced up at 16/5, and Wolves are 9/2 to get the win.

Chelsea to win and over 2.5 goals @ 5/4

Chelsea will be looking to turn the tables on Wolves here, after the Gary O'Neil's side won the reverse fixture between the teams on Christmas Eve.

Despite their thumping at Anfield, I'm backing Chelsea to win here, and I think there'll be plenty of goalmouth action. The Blues do their best work at home, where they have won seven of their last 10 home games while scoring a combined total of 25 goals.

Wolves will be frustrated at Manchester United’s late winner on Thursday, having done all the hard work to come back from 2-0 and 3-1 down to 3-3. O’Neil’s side showed they don't know when they're beaten – a characteristic which has been evident in many of their away games this campaign.

Trips to the capital usually result in misery for Wolves, however. They lost 3-2 at Crystal Palace, 3-2 at Fulham, 2-1 at Arsenal and 3-0 at West Ham before finally earning their first capital gains with a 4-1 win at Brentford on December 27.

Chelsea to win and over 2.5 goals at 5-4

Both teams to score @ 8/11

As mentioned above, I believe there will be plenty of goals at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Wolves have scored eight goals in their past four games across all competitions, but have also conceded 12 times in their five games in the capital this term. In fact, Wolves have kept just two clean sheets in their last 27 Premier League away games.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have netted 11 times in their past four games at Stamford Bridge, and seem to find their shooting boots when they're at home.
