Chelsea vs Gent Prediction: Hosts ready to shine in Conference League
Chelsea begin their 2024/25 Uefa Conference League campaign when they welcome Gent to Stamford Bridge on Thursday night (20:00, live on TNT Sports 1).
A 4-2 win over Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend extended their winning run to four matches, while the visitors have won three of their last four outings. Read on for my Chelsea vs Gent prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.
Chelsea vs Gent Betting Tips
Team News
Cole Palmer, Wesley Fofana and Romeo Lavia have all been left out of Chelsea’s squad for the Conference League, so will not be available here.
Malo Gusto returned from injury against Brighton, and may be handed another start with Reece James still on the treatment table. Christopher Nkunku appears to be the starting striker away from the Premier League, so he could be supported by Pedro Neto and Joao Felix on Thursday night.
The visitors will also be without Sven Kums, while Andrew Hjulsager is doubtful and new signing Aime Omgba is still yet to make his debut since joining from NAC Breda due to injury.

The Betfred traders envision a routine Chelsea win as the Blues are priced up at 1/4, giving them and implied win probability of 80%. The away win can be backed at 17/2, with the draw available at 9/2.
Nicolas Jackson and Nkunku are favourites to score anytime at 1/1, followed by Marc Guiu at 11/10 and Noni Madueke at 13/10.
Chelsea win and over 3.5 goals @ 13/10
Chelsea have been in red-hot form, winning their last four and scoring at least three goals in three of them. In fact, Enzo Maresca's side have only lost once at the Bridge since February.
The squad depth, that many people laughed at before the season started, is proving to be a positive, and no doubt we'll see a few changes in the team when the Blues play Gent on Thursday night.
I think they'll win this match in style - confidence will be high in the Chelsea camp, and they'll be looking to start their Conference League campaign with a bang.
Despite the absence of Palmer, Maresca still has the likes of Jackson, Nkunku, Felix and Neto at his disposal, so I'm predicting a comfortable Chelsea win.

Jadon Sancho to score anytime @ 13/8
Sancho has yet to score for Chelsea but he's been playing with a point to prove since arriving on loan from Manchester United.
The former Borussia Dortmund man has recorded an assist in each of his three appearances for the Blues.
It remains to be seen if Maresca will rest him and play Mykhailo Mudryk instead, but I reckon this is a great opportunity to build his confidence with a goal against an 'easier' opponent.
