An all-Premier League Carabao Cup quarter-final tie takes place at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night (20:00) as Chelsea host Newcastle United.

The Blues booked their place in the last eight with a comfortable win over Blackburn Rovers, while the visitors enjoyed a famous win at Old Trafford.

Chelsea vs Newcastle Prediction

  • Chelsea to win (90 mins) @ 4/5
  • Cole Palmer to score anytime (90 mins) @ 2/1

Team News

Christopher Nkunku was on the bench for Chelsea at the weekend, suggesting a long-awaited debut could be on the cards here.

However, Wesley Fofana, Carney Chukwuemeka, Trevoh Chalobah, Lesley Ugochukwu, Ben Chilwell, Reece James, Marc Cucurella, Robert Sanchez and Noni Madueke all remain on the treatment table.

As for Newcastle, Joelinton and Fabian Schar were both substituted prematurely in their win over Fulham at the weekend, so it remains to be seen whether they'll play a part here.

Meanwhile, Sandro Tonali, Nick Pope, Jacob Murphy, Matt Targett, Javi Manquillo, Elliot Anderson, Joe Willock and Harvey Barnes all remain on the absentee list.

Match Odds

Chelsea are 4/5 to win in 90 minutes, while Newcastle are 16/5 and the draw can be backed at 11/4.

Both teams to score is priced up at 4/6, and over 2.5 goals is 8/11.

Chelsea to win (90 mins) @ 4/5

Brentford's 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge at the end of October marked Chelsea's third home defeat of the campaign, but their luck has turned in recent weeks.

Mauricio Pochettino's men started November with a 2-0 triumph over Blackburn in the last-16 of this competition, before playing out a thrilling 4-4 draw with Manchester City.

The Blues have since added back-to-back wins over Brighton and Sheffield United, and it might be just as well that this tie is being played at Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea's away form has been miserable in comparison.

Injuries continue to mount up for Newcastle, as well as fatigue, as Eddie Howe doesn't have enough players fit to rotate his side accordingly. In addition, Newcastle's Premier League away form is woeful with one win, two draws and five defeats to their name, so I'm siding with the Blues here.

Cole Palmer to score anytime (90 mins) @ 2/1

Despite Chelsea's plethora of attacking options, the former Manchester City man has been a regular on the scoresheet for the Blues in recent weeks.

Palmer has been an instant hit since his move from City and the opener against Sheffield United at the weekend made it six goals in his last 10 Premier League starts.

The 21-year-old seems a decent shout at 2/1 to score anytime, as the Magpies have struggled on the road this term, and their last clean sheet away from home came in the win over Manchester United in the previous round of this competition.
