Charlton Athletic are in League 1 action on Saturday (15:00) as they welcome Stockport County to the Valley. The Addicks landed a huge win before the international break as they handed league leaders Birmingham City their first defeat of the campaign.

Now they will be looking to beat the Hatters, who are ahead of them on goal difference in the table. Stockport are unbeaten in their last three and will look to get the better of their hosts. Below you will find my Charlton vs Stockport prediction, accompanied by the latest match odds and team news.

Charlton vs Stockport Betting Tips

  • Both teams to score @ 4/5
  • Louie Barry anytime goalscorer @ 12/5

Charlton vs Stockport Odds

Charlton are 7/5, or a 41.7% chance, to take the three points. Stockport are 15/8 to win this contest, giving them an implied probability of 34.8%. The draw can be backed at 12/5 (29.4%).

Both teams to score is marketed at 4/5 and over 2.5 goals is on offer at 1/1.

Team News

Charlton have no fresh injury concerns heading into this match, so Nathan Jones could opt to keep the same starting lineup that defeated Birmingham City a fortnight ago.

After scoring the winner in that game, Matt Godden should keep hold of the centre-forward role ahead of Chuks Aneke and Tyreece Campbell. If Jones were to decide to make some changes to his side, we could see experienced midfielder Luke Berry come into the side for either Conor Coventry or Greg Docherty.

For Stockport, they remain without the services of defender Will Collar due to a hamstring injury. Veteran midfielder Oliver Norwood will be pushing for a recall to the midfield after being dropped to the bench for the last two matches in League 1.

Attacker Odin Bailey will be pushing for his first league start of the campaign having made five cameos from the bench this season. It's going to be tough for him though because the Hatters' main attackers have been excelling in the third tier so far.

Both teams to score @ 4/5

I feel as though this game is a tough one to call in terms of a result because Charlton are a tough nut to crack, particularly at home. In their 10 league appearances this season, under 2.5 goals has landed in eight of them, so they have not been involved in a lot of free-scoring affairs.

Both teams to score caught my eye for this fixture because the hosts will be feeling extra confident after their win against the Blues last time out. The Addicks are also yet to blank when playing at home, so I am confident we will see them get on the scoresheet at The Valley once again.

It may seem like a bold selection seeing as BTTS has only landed in two of their five appearances here, but this is where Stockport come into my thinking. The Hatters have been good going forward this term since their promotion from League 2 last season.

BTTS have been a regular feature in their away trips in the third tier, with both teams finding the back of the net in three of their five matches on the road. Both teams are level on 16 points and are looking like they are going to be strong top-six contenders this year.

This game will be seen as a huge six-pointer for both, so both sets of attackers will be primed to deliver top performances for their sides, and so I think we will see goals fly in at both ends on Saturday.

Louie Barry anytime goalscorer @ 12/5

Stockport pulled off an incredible coup in the summer transfer window as they were able to bring back Louie Barry on loan from Aston Villa. Boss Dave Challinor is a big fan of the young attacker and he has once again been a key figure for the Hatters, contributing five goal in nine matches.

Barry predominantly features on the left wing for his side, allowing him to show off his speed and dribbling abilities. I expect he will cause Charlton full-back Kayne Ramsay a whole host of problems.

The 21-year-old has gone two league games without a goal for the first time this season, so I think it's unlikely we will see his barren run continue into three matches. I'm backing him to strike at The Valley, and I feel 12/5 for that to happen offers good value.
