The League One play-off final is here and one of Charlton Athletic or Leyton Orient will be celebrating promotion to the Championship on Sunday night. This one kicks off at 13:01 on Sunday (Sky Sports Main Event) with that time representing the Every Minute Matters campaign.

In the bid for a weekend winner, below you can find my Charlton vs Leyton Orient Bet Builder Tips.

Charlton vs Leyton Orient Betting Tips

  • Matty Godden to score
  • Charlie Kelman to score
  • Over 3.5 cards

Bet Builder pays 17/2

Matty Godden to score

I’m playing things ever so safe with this Bet Builder, because I truly can’t call which team is going to come out on top. If I had to pick, I would lean towards Charlton, but only marginally, and the victory could come in extra time or even on penalties. As a result, I’m taking a step back and picking what I believe to be three likely outcomes.

The first is to back Matty Godden to score for the Addicks. He’s been absolutely sensational this season, and is a major reason why Charlton find themselves in the play-off final. The former Coventry man has now scored 22 goals in 48 appearances this season, including that vital winner in the semi-final battle against Wycombe.

He’s the most likely goalscorer on the pitch in my eyes, and he will be desperate to win at Wembley having lost the Championship play-off final in 2023, and the FA Cup semi-final in 2024 - both on penalties with the Sky Blues. He’s the man to make it happen for Charlton.

Charlie Kelman to score

Leyton Orient have a dangerous weapon of their own up front however, in the form of Charlie Kelman. The QPR loanee is going to shine in the second tier one way or another next season, but Orient will hope he can drag them there in the process.

Charlton vs Leyton Orient Stats

  • Matty Godden has scored 22 goals in 48 appearances
  • Charlie Kelman has scored 27 goals in 60 games

He’s scored 27 goals in 60 games this season in all competitions, and should be Orient’s biggest threat. Unlike usual play-off finals, I’m expecting this to be a fairly open and attacking encounter full of goals, which should give both Kelman and Godden plenty of scoring opportunities. Both teams have scored in seven of the last eight Orient matches, including both legs of their semi-final success of Stockport so I think that run will continue at Wembley.

Over 3.5 cards

I’ll also add there to be at least four cards in this final to our Bet Builder. Games at Wembley can sometimes be nervy affairs, but they often open up later on, with players happy to pick up bookings if their team holds the lead. There were five yellows in last year’s League One play-off final and I can see things getting a bit tasty at Wembley on Sunday as well.

This brings our exciting Bet Builder up to 17/2, and that’s a price I’m happy to back given we aren’t committing to a match result.
