Charlton Athletic entertain Crawley Town at The Valley on Tuesday (19:45, Sky Sports+) in League 1, looking to put together back-to-back victories for the first time since August. The Addicks ended a two-game losing streak last time out with a 1-0 victory at Burton Albion.

Crawley head to the capital unbeaten in their last four league outings, drawing three and winning their most recent one against Rotherham United. Read on for my Charlton Athletic vs Crawley Town prediction, accompanied by the latest match odds and team news.

Charlton Athletic vs Crawley Town Betting Tips

  • Charlton to win to nil @ 7/5
  • Under 2.5 goals @ 1/1

Charlton Athletic vs Crawley Town Odds

Charlton are 1/2, or a 66.7% chance, to win this fixture, having won three of their seven home games to date. Crawley are priced at 11/2 to claim their fifth victory of the campaign, giving them an implied probability of 15.4%. The draw is on offer at 16/5 (23.8%), which has landed on three occasions at The Valley this season.

Both teams to score is available at 5/6 and over 2.5 goals can be backed at 8/11.

Charlton's Matt Godden has scored five times in League 1 this season, and he is the 6/4 favourite to score anytime on Tuesday, as is teammate Miles Leaburn.

Team News

Charlton boss Nathan Jones could be tempted to field a similar XI to the side that has won the last two matches in all competitions. Gassan Ahadme and Leaburn are expected to lead the line for the Addicks, with the former netting a brace in the FA Cup win over Walsall at the weekend.

Godden should operate just behind them, having been his team's biggest goal threat so far in 2024/25, and he too was on the scoresheet against the Saddlers. Luke Berry, who Jones worked with at Luton Town, should continue in the midfield alongside Conor Coventry and Karoy Anderson.

Joshua John Edwards, Macaulay Gillesphey, Alex Mitchell and Rarmani Edmonds-Green should remain as the back four to shield goalkeeper Ashley Maynard-Brewer.

Tyreece Campbell will be hoping to force his way into the side after scoring from the bench at the weekend, but it is going to be tough for him to dislodge the three forwards ahead of him. Versatile Thierry Small will be looking for a recall but after two clean sheets on the bounce, Jones is unlikely going to mess with the back four that is yielding results.

Crawley's top scorer, Junior Quitirna, has four goals this season but he has been absent since the end of October, so the Red Devils are in need of inspiration from elsewhere at The Valley.

Will Swan and Tola Showunmi have been leading the line for the visitors and the former has three goals in the third tier so far. Showunmi awaits to get off the mark in the league but he has two goals in the FA Cup, with the latest coming in the defeat to Lincoln City last time out, and another in the EFL Trophy. Tyreece John-Jules will be competing with those two for a place in the side.

Jack Roles was on the scoresheet against the Imps, so he could have played his way into contention for this one. Jeremy Kelly, Max Anderson and Panutche Camara are expected to be the midfield three again after playing a key role in the win over Rotherham in their last league appearance.

Charlton to win to nil @ 7/5

Jones has been making The Valley a tough place for opposition to visit and this is backed up by Charlton only having one defeat in seven played here this term in the league.

That came against Blackpool when the Tangerines enjoyed an impressive new manager bounce under Steve Bruce. The other six home games have seen them win or share the spoils.

The Addicks have beaten promotion favourites Birmingham City, as well as another promotion-chasing side in Bolton Wanderers. They have also held the likes of Wrexham, Stockport County and Rotherham to a point - it's their away form that proves to be their biggest issue.

Crawley head here in decent form, and arguably their best of the campaign, but I do see their unbeaten run coming to an end here because of how strong Charlton are at The Valley.

There are just six points between the two teams heading into Tuesday and the home side will feel that they need to be looking up rather than down. We know how Jones likes to set his team up - tight and compact so they don't allow their opponents many chances.

It has worked against far better teams than Crawley, so I figure they should be able to pick up another win here. All six of their wins this season have been to nil, so I think this trend is worth backing on Tuesday.

Under 2.5 goals @ 1/1

You might say Jones' style sucks the life out of games, and that could be right as it is very rare that they will be involved in a game featuring a lot of goals. That's why their 4-0 win at the weekend came as a shock.

In the league, under 2.5 goals has featured a lot in their matches, 11 from 16 to be precise, including five of their seven clashes at The Valley.

This selection has also been frequent when Crawley have been playing away from home this season. There have been less than three goals scored in five of their eight games on the road, so this is another trend I can see continuing. Especially when Charlton have conceded just six goals at home in the league this term.

I think 1/1 offers excellent value on this market considering how often it lands at this ground.
