Wrexham vs Southampton Prediction: Top-six tussle to produce a draw

Wrexham came from two goals down to draw at West Bromwich Albion on Friday in the Championship, and now the Red Dragons face a sterner test in Southampton, who travel to the Racecourse Ground on Tuesday (20:00 BST, Sky Sports+).
The Saints should be full of confidence after defeating Premier League leaders Arsenal on Saturday to book their place in the FA Cup semi-finals. Below you will find my Wrexham vs Southampton predictions, aided by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Kieffer Moore returned to the Wrexham squad from injury against West Brom. The striker may have to settle for a starting place on the bench again, however. Liberato Cacace, Matty James and Ben Sheaf remain sidelined for the hosts.
Flynn Downes is available for Southampton following his one-game suspension and he may be restored to the midfield in North Wales.
Cameron Archer might be considered for a start in attack if Tonda Eckert decides to make changes to the team that defeated Arsenal last time out.
Wrexham vs Southampton Predicted Lineups
- Wrexham: Okonkwo; Cleworth, Hyam, Doyle; Kabore, Vyner, Dobson, Thomason; Windass, O'Brien; Smith
- Southampton: Peretz; Bree, Harwood-Bellis, Wood, Manning; Charles, Downes; Fellows, Archer, Azaz; Larin
Wrexham are an 8/5 bet to win and they have triumphed in five of their last eight matches in the Championship.
Southampton are gunning for a fourth consecutive victory in the second tier and they are also 8/5 to collect the three points.
The draw is marketed at 5/2. This was the outcome in Wrexham's previous fixture against West Brom.
Seven of the Red Dragons' past nine league games have produced over 2.5 goals, which is priced at 10/11 for Tuesday.
Wrexham vs Southampton Stats
- 3 of Southampton's last 8 road trips in the league have ended level
- Wrexham's most recent outing was a draw at West Brom
- Both teams have scored in each of Wrexham's past 3 league fixtures
- BTTS - Yes has struck in each of Southampton's previous 4 away games
Match Result - Draw @ 5/2
This is a contest with big implications. Wrexham and Southampton are separated by a point in the race for the play-offs, with the former currently sat in sixth. The Red Dragons did well to salvage a point at West Brom last time out, but they could have really benefitted from three. A point is not much insurance for them at this stage of the season and Southampton have a game in hand.
Phil Parkinson's side cannot afford to lose this match as it could strike a huge blow to their top-six chances. They will relish being at home and the home crowd are expected to be fired up for this battle.
The hosts have quality in their ranks, just as the Saints do. This should make for an entertaining tussle at the Racecourse but I do wonder if this will lead to the two sides cancelling one another out.
Wrexham could only manage a stalemate on Friday, while three of Southampton's previous eight away games in the league have ended level. The draw is an attractive price at 5/2 (implied probability of 28.5%).

Both Teams To Score - Yes @ 8/11
Both teams are experiencing positive trends when it comes to BTTS - Yes ahead of Tuesday's meeting. This has been a winning selection in each of Wrexham's past three Championship fixtures, while it also delivered in August's reverse fixture at St. Mary's.
For Southampton, this has been a successful bet in each of their last four away matches in the second tier, as well as their FA Cup triumph over Arsenal last time out. Given the attacking quality the two clubs possess, I fancy them both to find the net here.
