The Sportsman Untitled: Championship winners and losers so far
The Sportsman Untitled is back and despite it being an international break, the panel featuring Simon Lillibury (that’s me), Conor McGilligan and Benjamin Bloom had plenty to discuss.
The trio cover the latest rumours, the surprising deadline day transfers and review the season so far for teams up and down the Championship.

As you can see above, there has been some significant movement in the Championship Outright Winners market after four matches, although Ipswich remain hot favourites. Coventry City, having scored 14 goals in their last three matches, have moved up to join Southampton as the second favourites, with Birmingham City losing ground slightly due to their hit and miss start. League leaders Middlesbrough, who have won four out of four, are now 8/1 to win the league.
The start to the Championship season, even though we are just four games in, is a key point of discussion for the panel this week as Rob Edwards and Adi Viveash have made a superb start at the Riverside. At the other end of the table, Sheffield United are going through a rough patch as they sit pointless at the bottom, with new manager Ruben Selles coming under increasing pressure at Bramall Lane.
Talking of managers, Danny Rohl remains out of a job for now, but would he be willing to cross the divide in Sheffield? As well as these key debates, Ben and Conor discuss their favourite Championship deadline day signings, with David Strelec and Aaron Ramsey taking a large chunk of the focus.
We also debate which individual players have impressed us so far, with Josh Sargent, Victor Torp and Carlton Morris catching the eye. There’s also an interesting debate about continuity in August befitting the teams at the top, while the trio then look ahead to three massive games this weekend.
Ipswich host Sheffield United on Friday night (20:00, Sky Sports Main Event), Oxford United are looking for their first win as they welcome Leicester City to the Kassam Stadium (12:30, Sky Sports+), while Stoke face Birmingham in a crunch clash at 15:00. The trio give score predictions for each of these clashes, while there is also an extended preview of Southampton vs Portsmouth coming your way on Friday.
