There’s an interesting Championship clash on Wednesday night (19:45 BST, Sky Sports+) with Swansea City hosting Queens Park Rangers at the Swansea.com Stadium. It’s a congested second-tier table at the moment, and both sides will have aspirations of a top-six finish this term.

However, it’s only one win in five for the south Wales side, while QPR were beaten 2-1 by Millwall in west London last weekend. Below are my Swansea vs QPR predictions, supported by team news and match odds.

Swansea vs QPR Betting Tips

  •  QPR to beat Swansea @ 5/2
  • Richard Kone to score first @ 6/1

Team News

Centre-back Ricardo Santos is out for Swansea, but the home side have an otherwise fully fit squad to choose from. Adam Idah and Eom Ji-sung are pushing for starts in attack.

QPR will be without Ziyad Larkeche, and boss Julien Stephan has further concerns with Jake Clarke-Salter, Kwame Poku and Ilias Chair all doubts. The trio have returned to training, but Wednesday night’s game could come too soon for them.

Swansea vs QPR Odds

Swansea are 23/20 to take all three points at their south Wales base. QPR are rated 5/2 chances, while the draw is available at 9/4.

It’s no surprise to see under 2.5 goals at 8/11 with Swansea scoring only 10 goals in 10 Championship matches this season.

Swansea vs QPR Stats

  • SWA have only won one of their last five games
  • Kone (QPR) has scored four Championship goals this season

QPR to beat Swansea @ 5/2

QPR may be able to outperform the south Wales side in attack, and the Hoops look a decent bet to return to west London with three points.

The overall profile of QPR’s squad looks a little short of top-six quality, but their attack is on the mark.

Richard Kone has scored four times since making the switch from Wycombe, and the 22-year-old is averaging 2.81 shots per game in the Championship this term.

Rumarn Burrell has notched twice in six league starts for the Hoops, showing plenty of promise after signing from Burton, while Michael Frey has returned from injury to prove a useful foil in attack.

There are concerns elsewhere on the pitch, but Swansea could be there for the taking, having only scored 10 goals in 10 Championship matches this season, and it’s only one win in five games for Alan Sheehan’s men.

Richard Kone to score first @ 6/1

Kone scored 21 goals in 61 appearances for Wycombe, and there has been no let-up from the 22-year-old since he signed for QPR.

The Ivory Coast striker has notched four times in the Championship this term, and those strikes have come from only seven starts.

That’s a pretty healthy return, and there could be more to come as Kone continues to adapt to life in the second tier.

At 6/1, the 22-year-old looks like a good option to open the scoring against Swansea.
