Sheffield United have begun their season with two wins, one in the Championship and one in the Carabao Cup. It’s been an impressive start for a squad that looked slightly unbalanced heading into the season. However, the new signings have impressed already, and the Blades secured a 2-0 win over Preston North End on Friday in their league opener.

They host a QPR outfit (Saturday, 15:00) that were beaten 3-1 at home by West Brom, as Josh Maja bagged a hat-trick for the Baggies. Below you can find my Sheff Utd vs QPR prediction, featuring team news and betting odds.

Sheff Utd vs QPR Betting Tips

  • Sheff Utd to win @ 4/5
  • Gustavo Hamer to score anytime @ 13/5

Team News

The Blades made 11 changes in midweek, so we should see the big guns such as Kieffer Moore, Gustavo Hamer and Callum O’Hare all return for this game. Meanwhile, new £2m signing Michael Cooper has arrived from Plymouth and should start in goal, a previous position of weakness for United. Alfie Gilchrist, Anel Ahmedhodzic, Jack Robinson and Harrison Burrows should all be reinstated into the back four.

Meanwhile Marti Cifuentes will be looking for a response to their home defeat last season, but Morgan Fox and Ilias Chair remain out injured. Karamoko Dembele could make his league debut after his arrival, with Koki Saito also pushing for a start.

Sheff Utd vs QPR Odds

Sheff Utd are 4/5 to win this game, while QPR are priced at 7/2. A draw can be backed at 13/5, over 2.5 goals is 5/6 and BTTS is 4/5.

Sheff Utd to win @ 4/5

I’ve been pretty strong on Sheff Utd for the majority of the summer, and with every new signing, my belief in them grows. Moore and O’Hare were two excellent additions early in the window, and now they are addressing key areas of concern.

Burrows and Gilchrist have improved their full-back positions and with Cooper now in from Plymouth, they have one of the best goalkeepers in the division. They showed an excellent level of control against Preston, and I expect more of the same here as they play their first league game at Bramall Lane. The Blades are going to be contenders this term.

Gustavo Hamer to score anytime @ 13/5

Arguably Sheff Utd’s best player. Clearly a midfielder of Premier League quality, he remains at the club with just over two weeks of the window remaining. If they can keep hold of the man they signed for £15m from Coventry last summer, it will be a massive boost to their promotion hopes.

Playing in a more advanced wide role under Chris Wilder, Hamer should get more goals and assists this term. His strike against Preston was superb, as he lobbed the goalkeeper from 30 yards, and I’m expecting him to find the net again, this time on home soil.
