Preston vs Coventry Prediction: Wobble to continue for Sky Blues

Following a heavy defeat at Ipswich Town on Saturday, Coventry City face another tough away game in the Championship on Tuesday night (19:45 GMT, Sky Sports+), as Frank Lampard’s side prepare to face Preston at Deepdale Stadium.

Below are my Preston vs Coventry predictions, as well as all the essential team news and match odds for the showdown in Lancashire.

Team News

Preston have had to deal with a number of injuries in recent weeks, with Robbie Brady, Jamal Lewis, Ali McCann, Brad Potts and Lewis Gibson all set to miss out on Tuesday's game.

Mads Frokjaer-Jensen sat out the 1-1 draw with Wrexham at the weekend due to a knock, but he is pushing for a return in this game.

Football Odds

As for the Sky Blues, Brandon Thomas-Asante will be missing as he recovers from a hamstring injury, while goalkeeper Oliver Dovin remains a long-term absentee.

Victor Torp was a notable absentee for the defeat at Ipswich and is a doubt for Tuesday.

A draw at Deepdale is 23/10, while Preston in the double chance market are 4/5.

Preston have been somewhat of a bogey team for Coventry over the years, with the Lancashire outfit losing just one of their last 23 league games against the Sky Blues.

Winning three of their last four meetings with Coventry, Preston seem to have the sign over them, while Deepdale has certainly not been a happy hunting ground for the Sky Blues.

Coventry have never won at Deepdale in a league game, and the Lilywhites are likely to make life difficult for Lampard’s side, who are sorely missing Thomas-Asante in the final third.

Preston have only lost twice at home in the Championship this season, and Paul Heckingbottom’s side to claim all three points on Tuesday catches the eye at 13/5.

When these sides last met at Deepdale in the Championship last season, there was little to choose from between the two teams.

In the end, it was a 72nd-minute goal from Emil Riis that was the difference between the two sides, and another low-scoring encounter might well be on the cards here.

Preston will look to keep things tight and frustrate the visitors, who lacked a cutting edge in their defeat at Portman Road at the weekend.

Much like the last meetings between these sides in Lancashire, one goal might decide this one, and going for under 2.5 total goals gets the nod here.
