Norwich vs sheff united betting tips

Norwich City are still searching for their first league win of the season and they host recently relegated Sheffield United at Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon (15:00). Johannes Hoff Thorup has endured a difficult summer as two star men in the form of Gabriel Sara and Jon Rowe have left the club.

Now the Canaries are looking to rebuild under their new boss, while Chris Wilder’s squad is also beginning to take shape. Below you can find my Norwich vs Sheff Utd prediction featuring team news and betting tips.

Norwich vs Sheff Utd Betting Tips

  • Sheff Utd to win @ 6/4
  • Gustavo Hamer to score first @ 9/1

Team News

Norwich started two youngsters in the form of Gabriel Forsyth and Amankwah Forson against Blackburn Rovers as Thorup searched for the right replacements for Rowe and Sara. Onel Hernandez may be chosen on the right wing to offer more experience, while it remains to be seen what happens with Abu Kamara, who handed in a transfer request this week.

Sheff Utd meanwhile may lose centre-back Anel Ahmedhodžić before the window is out, with interest from Ipswich Town hotting up. Harry Souttar may start in his place, while Gustavo Hamer remains at the club and he will start along with Kieffer Moore and Callum O’Hare in what is a talented attacking midfield/forward line.

Norwich vs Sheff Utd Odds

Norwich are priced at 7/4 to win this game on home soil, while Sheff Utd can be backed at 6/4. A draw is available at 12/5, over 2.5 goals is 8/11 and BTTS is 4/7.

Sheff Utd to win @ 6/4

As you can tell from the team news, all isn’t quite right at Norwich. They’ve lost two big names and it has weakened them massively in forward areas, which does slightly concern me. I’m sure more names will come in before the end of the window, but right now, they look like a beatable team.

Sheff Utd will fancy their chances based on the two squads on paper. They threw away a two-goal lead at home to QPR, but had looked very good in the first half of that game. They are also scoring plenty of goals, with eight to their name in the first three matches, so I’m expecting them to enjoy a fairly profitable evening in East Anglia.

Gustavo Hamer to score first @ 9/1

I think we are finding excellent value by backing Gustavo Hamer to find the net first in this one. He is a class above at this level, and it will be a surprise if nobody comes in for him before the end of the window, but for now he is committed to putting in top performances for Sheff Utd and he’s made a belting start to the new campaign.

Wilder likes to play him in an advanced left-sided midfield position and while that may limit his bulldog-like attitude, it does allow him to flourish in an attacking sense. So far in 2024/25 he has scored two goals in two league matches, and his quality from outside the box is second-to-none. I think backing him at 9/1 to score first is the best value I can find for this Championship fixture.
