The top two in the Championship meet on Tuesday evening, as Middlesbrough and Coventry do battle at the Riverside Stadium (19:45, Sky Sports+). Coventry could extend their lead at the top to 10 points with a win on Teesside, but they face a Boro side who have been a tough nut to crack on home soil.

Despite the departure of Rob Edwards, the hosts have taken four points from two games under caretaker Adi Viveash.

Boro have since appointed new manager Kim Hellberg, but the Swede will have a watching brief for Tuesday’s Championship match-up. Frank Lampard’s visitors have still only lost once this season and came from 2-0 behind to beat West Brom on Saturday.

Coventry have an impressive recent record against Boro and will look to make it four wins on the spin in the Championship. Read on for my Middlesbrough vs Coventry predictions, as well as the all-important team news and the Betfred match odds for the big Championship clash.

Team News

George Edmundson is still sidelined with a hip problem, while Darragh Lenihan could also miss out through injury.

Boro are expected to hand a late fitness test to Matt Targett, who went off at half-time at Oxford due to a calf problem.

Coventry are set to be without forward Haji Wright, who scored at the Riverside last season, but is set to miss his second consecutive game.

The American picked up a thigh strain on international duty and is not expected to return until early December.

Jack Rudoni returned to the matchday squad against the Baggies and is likely to be on the bench again, while Luke Woolfenden is available again after illness.

Today's Football Fixtures

Middlesbrough vs Coventry Odds

Middlesbrough, who are unbeaten in the league at home this season, can be backed at 13/8 to claim the three points on Tuesday night.

League leaders Coventry are available at 7/5 to seal another away win, while the draw is priced up at 11/5.

Draw @ 21/10

Middlesbrough, seven points behind their opponents, go into Tuesday’s clash unbeaten in seven league games at the Riverside.

Coventry, though, have had the better of the recent meetings between the two sides, doing the double over Boro in the last two seasons.

Lampard’s men have been behind in two of their last three matches and it could prove expensive if they concede the opening goal in midweek.

Only Wrexham have drawn more games in the Championship than Middlesbrough, who have finished level in six of their 16 league matches.

Anytime Goalscorer - Ephron Mason-Clark @ 10/3

With Wright missing, Coventry will look to Ellis Simms, Ephron Mason-Clark and Brandon Thomas-Asante to deliver the goods in the attacking third.

Between them, the Sky Blues trio have scored 15 goals, with the leaders still the clear top scorers in the second tier with 43 in 16 games.

It’s worth noting, though, that Mason-Clark has scored in Coventry’s last two away games, at Stoke and Wrexham.
