Leicester vs Middlesbrough Prediction: Boro can add to Foxes’ misery

Leicester City are in a bit of a pickle right now. A 2-0 home defeat to Blackburn Rovers means that Marti Cifuentes has overseen three defeats on the trot, and his Foxes have slipped down to 14th in the table. That’s really poor for a newly relegated side, and he will hope to address those issues as Leicester welcome Middlesbrough to the King Power on Tuesday (19:45, Sky Sports+).
Boro were hammered 3-0 by Watford in their last away game, and below you can find my Leicester vs Middlesbrough predictions.

Team News
Leicester boss Cifuentes is trying to find a solution for the lack of goals in his team, which saw him hand Julian Carranza a start up front last time out. That didn’t work against Rovers so expect Jordan Ayew to come back in and lead the line, with Patson Daka also knocking on the door.
Stephy Mavididi missed a sitter but should keep his place ahead of the returning Jeremy Monga while Jordan James came off with an injury and is set to miss out. Expect Harry Winks and Boubakary Soumare to play deep with Bobby De Cordova-Reid a likely candidate to replace James in the number 10 role. Leicester need goals, so changes are likely once again.
Rob Edwards could rotate after a disappointing weekend showing, and his side have lost their attacking efficiency in front of goal. David Strelec and Kaly Sene could remedy that from the bench so I’d expect them to start, with Morgan Whittaker also an option to join the attack.
Alfie Jones has just switched his international allegiance to Canada and should feature in the back three along with Luke Ayling and Dael Fry, while Matt Targett and Callum Brittain need to offer more in this one from the wing-back positions. Hayden Hackney and Aidan Morris should continue their midfield partnership, with Alan Browne likely to be dropped from midfield.
Leicester vs Middlesbrough Predicted Lineups
- Leicester - Stolarczyk; Pereira, Vestergaard, Okoli, Thomas; Soumare, Winks; Fatawu, De Cordova-Reid, Mavididi; Ayew.
- Middlesbrough - Brynn; Ayling, Fry, Jones; Brittain, Hackney, Morris, Targett; Whittaker, Strelec, Sene.
Leicester vs Middlesbrough Odds
Leicester are 6/5 to win this game giving them an implied win probability of 45%, while Middlesbrough are the outsiders at 12/5. A draw can be backed at 9/4, over 2.5 goals is 11/10 and BTTS is 4/5.
If you fancy a goalscorer, Daka and Ayew are both 11/2 to find the net first.
Leicester vs Middlesbroug Stats
- Leicester have lost their last three games
- Boro have lost two away games this term
- Leicester lost both halves against Blackburn on Saturday
Middlesbrough to win @ 12/5
I don’t particularly trust either of these teams completely right now, but I trust Boro far more than Leicester. The Foxes have been pretty abysmal for the last few weeks, winning just one of their last nine outings. They’ve lost each of their last three games, and they’ve failed to score in their last two, with murmurings of discontent audible after the 2-0 home defeat to Blackburn Rovers.
Cifuentes is a solid manager, but he has been labeled ‘boring’ by the Leicester faithful, and unfortunately that has rung true with their lack of attacking force in recent weeks. I don’t see them being able to get at this Boro defence, even though Edwards saw his team torn apart by Watford last time out. The away side need a statement win to calm the nerves and I think a toxic King Power Stadium could be the perfect place to get it.
This selection is great value given what we’ve seen from Leicester City lately.

Middlesbrough to win both halves @ 11/1
In for a penny, in for a pound. This game looks to have been priced up like a first-year parachute payment team are playing like Leeds and Burnley did last season as they cantered to 100 points. That simply isn’t the case with Leicester right now and they sit in the bottom half of the table.
They look devoid of any attacking impetus bar Fatawu and Boro have been decent on the road so far, losing two and winning three of their seven away fixtures. Leicester lost both halves against Blackburn in their last home game, and the feeling around the club is negative. I think Boro can make a statement.
