Hull City take on promotion rivals Ipswich Town at the MKM Stadium on Tuesday night (19:45 GMT, Sky Sports+) in a midweek round of Championship fixtures. Hull come into the game in sixth spot, one point and two places above the visitors.

However, Ipswich are the clear favourites to come away with maximum points as they seek to extend their six-game unbeaten run, whereas the Tigers are in the midst of a bit of a tough spell with two defeats in their last three games. Read on for my Hull vs Ipswich predictions...

Today's Football Fixtures

Hull vs Ipswich Odds

Ipswich are the favourites at 4/5 to claim all three points after back-to-back 4-1 away wins, at QPR and Swansea. Hull are 3/1 to claim three points, and the draw is priced at 12/5.

The Tigers are on a six-game unbeaten run at home and have only lost one of their eight Championship games at this venue, and they can be backed at 19/20 to either win or draw in the double chance market.

Only runaway leaders Coventry have scored more goals in the Championship than Hull this season and Ipswich have the division’s third-best attack. Both teams to score is available at 8/11, and over 2.5 goals is 4/5.

Over 3.5 goals @ 2/1

There is a temptation to take a chance on a Hull win due to their status as big price underdogs for this game and their strong home form, but the better angle could be backing these teams to combine for over 3.5 goals.

Hull have the second-best attack in the division with 28 goals scored in 16 games, an average of 1.75 per game, but they also have the worst defensive record outside of the relegation places with 27 goals conceded.

The Tigers’ games average a hefty 3.4 goals per game, and on Tuesday, they face another formidable attack.

Ipswich score on average 1.73 goals per game, and like Hull, they have been less impressive at the back.

The Tractor Boys have just two clean sheets in their last 10 games and haven’t had a shutout on the road all season, so both of these teams should be able to contribute, and they can combine for at least four goals.

Hull to win and both teams to score @ 6/1

Hull look like backable underdogs here despite two losses in their last three games as their home form remains rock-solid.

Sergej Jakirovic’s men have won four of their last six at MKM Stadium, drawing the other two, and they’ve suffered just one loss in eight games at this venue this season.

Ipswich may have won their last two road games in style, but both of those successes came against teams in the bottom half, and they are their only away wins this term in any competition.

The visitors have only failed to score in one away game this season, however, and Hull’s defence looks suspect, so a home win with goals at both ends is an interesting big price option for this key promotion clash.
