Coventry City welcome Birmingham City to the CBS Arena on Saturday (12:30 BST, Sky Sports Football) in the Championship. The Sky Blues are one of two sides still unbeaten in the second tier, while Birmingham have lost their previous two away trips in the league.

Below you will find my Coventry vs Birmingham predictions, aided by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

Coventry are currently coping with injuries to Joel Latibeaudiere (knee) and Oliver Dovin (cruciate ligament tear), with the latter out of action until January at the earliest.

The hosts are also sweating on the fitness of Ephron Mason-Clark (hamstring) and Kaine Kesler-Hayden (ankle) for this West Midlands clash at the weekend.

With his side unbeaten, Coventry boss Frank Lampard is unlikely to make too many changes for Saturday. The attacking quartet of Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, Jack Rudoni, Brandon Thomas-Asante and Haji Wright currently picks itself, as does the midfield pairing of Victor Torp and Matt Grimes.

Football Odds

After an impressive performance at home to Swansea City last week, Birmingham manager Chris Davies may stick with a similar XI, but one change could see Patrick Roberts come in for Lewis Koumas.

Roberts came off the bench to set up Lyndon Dykes' last-gasp winner against the Swans. The Blues' back four looked more settled with Jack Robinson in the left centre-back role, so expect this to continue in Coventry.

Marvin Ducksch may operate again as the front man but he could also be changed around with Jay Stansfield in the number 10 role.

Scott Wright and Lee Buchanan (both knee) remain the visitors' long-term injury absentees.

Coventry vs Birmingham Predicted Lineups

  • Coventry - Rushworth; Van Ewijk, Thomas, Kitching, Dasilva; Torp, Grimes, Sakamoto, Rudoni, Thomas-Asante; Wright
  • Birmingham - Allsop; Osayi-Samuel, Klarer, Robinson, Cochrane; Iwata, Paik; Roberts, Ducksch, Gray; Stansfield

Today's Football Fixtures

Coventry vs Birmingham Odds

Coventry have won two of their four home games across all competitions this season and they are 23/20 (implied probability of 46.5%) to come out on top on Saturday.

The Sky Blues have experienced three draws in a row and the stalemate is priced at 12/5.

This is the same price for Birmingham to collect the three points, which they have only managed in one of their three away games in the Championship this term.

Both teams have scored in 67% (4/6) of Coventry's Championship fixtures so far this season and BTTS is available at 8/11 on this occasion.

Coventry vs Birmingham Stats

  • Coventry are unbeaten in the Championship
  • Four of their six games have been draws (including their last three)

Double Chance - Coventry or draw and both teams to score @ 5/4

Coventry look a well-organised unit this season, like they did towards the end of 2024/25 under Lampard. The Sky Blues have a good blend in their squad and their attacking line-up is currently one of the best in the division, particularly on form.

No team has found the net more times than Cov (15), and this is going to be a big test for Birmingham's defence on Saturday.

The Blues make the short trip to the CBS Arena off the back of a much-needed win, but the theme this season so far is that they perform considerably better at St. Andrew's than they do on their travels.

They lost their last two away games at Leicester City and Stoke City, while their victory at Blackburn Rovers was a late turnaround - but even in that game they were not as their best for the majority of the contest.

Coventry are unbeaten and have the home advantage. The onus will be on them in this contest but Birmingham's defence can be stubborn, with just five goals conceded thus far.

Like last week's tussle with Leicester, this may be another cagey affair for Coventry to manage, but given Birmingham's could troubles on the road, the hosts may be able to edge this clash.

I'm covering the insurance of a draw, though, as for as long as they remain in the game Birmingham can pose a threat - particularly when they will have more resources on their bench than the Sky Blues.

The odds are boosted with the addition of BTTS, which has struck in four of the hosts' previous five competitive appearances.

Last team to score - Birmingham @ 13/10

There have been two games this season where Birmingham have left it late to find some cutting edge in front of goal - Blackburn and then Swansea last weekend.

The Blues currently have some issues on the road that they need to iron out, and it is going to be tough to do that at in-form Coventry.

I like the look of this market as I can envisage another slow start away from home for Birmingham, which will likely leave them with work to do in the second half. The game may already be over or they may still have a fighting chance, as Coventry have squandered a number of chances in recent weeks.

As I mentioned earlier, I think the visitors will have more options on the bench which could also play a pivotal role in this contest. Striker Dykes has had a great use for them from the bench, and he now has two late-winning goals to his name this season. Could he be set for one here or perhaps even an equaliser or just a consolation goal?

The Scotland international is 5/2 to score anytime if that tickles your fancy.
