In midweek, Coventry City stretched their lead at the top of the Championship to 10 points with a win at Middlesbrough and Sheffield United dragged themselves out of the relegation zone with a 3-0 win over Portsmouth.

It’s Nick who tops the charts in our prediction league, and I need to get some points on the board quickly. Below you can find our Championship Predictions for gameweek 18.

Oxford United 0-3 Ipswich Town @ 10/1

Ipswich are flying right now and the Tractor Boys are up to fifth and unbeaten in their last six games. We expected them to be title challengers at the start of the campaign, and now finally Kieran McKenna’s squad are flexing their muscles. Oxford meanwhile rescued a point against Norwich late on, but are now in the bottom three. Big away win.

Nick: 1-2

Conor: 3-1

Leicester City 1-1 Sheffield United @ 11/2

Sheffield United won 3-0 and Leicester lost 3-0 in midweek, as the Foxes were well-beaten by Southampton. However, Marti Cifuentes’ team had won their two previous matches and have some talented individuals. I’ll back a draw in this one.

Nick: 1-2

Conor: 1-1

Portsmouth 0-1 Bristol City @ 15/2

Portsmouth were on the end of that hammering at Bramall Lane and they have been poor of late, winning just one of their last eight games. John Mousinho’s men are now 20th in the league and at risk of relegation, so Bristol City will fancy their chances.

The Robins lost 2-0 at Wrexham in midweek and will want to put in a stronger showing here. I’ll back them to narrowly edge this crucial encounter.

Nick: 1-0

Conor: 1-1

Stoke City 2-0 Hull City @ 15/2

Mark Robins is flying at the moment with Stoke and they now sit second in the league having beaten Charlton 3-0 at home on Tuesday night. Sorba Thomas bagged a brace and the Potters’ attacking talent is carrying them on this unlikely promotion charge. Hull lost at home to Ipswich last time out and have now lost three of their last four.

Nick: 2-1

Conor: 3-1

Coventry City 3-1 Charlton @ 11/1

The leaders have won 10 of their last 11 games and are looking unstoppable right now. Charlton have lost their last three and conceded eight goals in their last two games, so when you match that up against a team that have scored 47 goals in 17 matches, we have to expect another home win. Coventry haven’t kept one clean sheet in their last seven games so I will give the Addicks a goal.

Nick: 3-1

Conor: 3-1

Sheffield Wednesday 0-2 Preston @ 10/1

Sheffield Wednesday lost narrowly to Millwall in midweek and predicting another loss is the most sensible conclusion we can come to. They have a limited squad and three-game weeks can take their toll on the Owls, while Preston will be desperate to end a run of three games without a win. PNE should get the job done.

Nick: 1-2

Conor: 0-2

Millwall 0-3 Southampton @ 18/1

Tonda Eckert is flying right now with Southampton and they’ve now won four in a row and are scoring goals for fun. Eleven goals in their last three games is outstanding and I think they will keep it up here against a Millwall team that haven’t performed well lately.

Nick: 1-1

Conor: 1-2

West Brom 1-0 Swansea @ 5/1

Swansea manager Vitor Matos lost his first game in charge and his new side have now lost four games in a row. There are some relegation concerns now around South Wales and a trip to West Brom will provide a tough test. WBA start games well but often give points away from leading positions, but I will back them to hold on against Swansea.

Nick: 2-1

Conor: 1-0

Wrexham 2-0 Blackburn Rovers @ 11/1

Wrexham won 2-0 in midweek and are now unbeaten in their last seven Championship matches. Even more impressively, they have now kept four clean sheets in a row which gives them a wonderful platform to win matches and challenge the play-off places. Blackburn were narrowly beaten by QPR last time out and could find it tough again here.

Nick: 3-2

Conor: 2-1

Norwich City 1-1 QPR @ 11/2

Oh Norwich. Just when it looked like they have done enough to win a vital relegation six-pointer against Oxford, they conceded in the 95th minute. That was their first home point of the season but that’s not good enough right now as they sit 23rd. Philippe Clement needs to get wins on the board, but I don’t think this squad has any confidence at all. Will sit on the fence and back a draw vs QPR.

Nick: 2-0

Conor: 1-1

Middlesbrough 2-1 Derby @ 15/2

Kim Hellberg will take charge of his first game at Middlesbrough, having been introduced to the crowd before the 4-2 defeat to Coventry on Tuesday. That was a decent performance from Boro, and Tommy Conway missed a crucial chance to make it 3-2, before the league leaders won it late on.

Derby have won six of their last seven, and both teams have scored in their last five outings, but I just think Boro will be desperate to win this opening game under Hellberg. 2-1.

Nick: 2-2

Conor: 2-1

Birmingham 2-1 Watford @ 15/2

Monday night sees Birmingham host Watford with the Blues finishing strongly to draw 1-1 against West Brom on Wednesday. They have won three of their last five and while Watford are unbeaten in five, three of those have ended in 1-1 draws. I’ll back the home side to just edge this one.
