Championship Predictions: Can Wrexham end Coventry’s unbeaten start?

We are back for another round of our Championship predictions and last week, if I do say so myself, we all fared quite well. I got three scores bang on, including Wrexham’s 1-1 draw at Boro, while I also predicted another three correct results to get myself 12 points.
Having missed a gameweek earlier in the season, I’ve got ground to make up, and I’ll try and do so here. Below you can find our Championship Gameweek 13 predictions.
Simon's Championship Predictions - Gameweek 13
- Wrexham vs Coventry (Friday, 20:00) - 1-4 @ 28/1
- Norwich vs Hull (Saturday, 12:30) - 1-2 @ 10/1
- Leicester vs Blackburn (Saturday, 12:30) - 1-0 @ 5/1
- West Brom vs Sheffield Wednesday (Saturday, 12:30) - 1-1 @ 15/2
- Southampton vs Preston (Saturday, 15:00) - 1-1 @ 6/1
- QPR vs Ipswich (Saturday, 15:00) - 1-2 @ 7/1
- Watford vs Middlesbrough (Saturday, 15:00) - 2-1 @ 9/1
- Charlton vs Swansea (Saturday, 15:00) - 2-1 @ 15/2
- Birmingham vs Portsmouth (Saturday, 15:00) - 1-0 @ 5/1
- Oxford United vs Millwall (Saturday, 15:00) - 0-1 @ 13/2
- Sheffield United vs Derby County (Saturday, 15:00) - 2-0 @ 7/1

Wrexham vs Coventry (Friday, 20:00) - 1-4 @ 28/1
Gone big for an away win on Friday night. This Coventry fan is going to take on the challenge of being top dogs in the Championship and back his free-scoring side to bag four at Wrexham. Cov have scored 34 goals in 12 games so far, and while Wrexham have drawn four of their last six 1-1, I think the Sky Blues can run riot in Wales.
Nick: 1-2
Conor: 1-3
Norwich vs Hull (Saturday, 12:30) - 1-2 @ 10/1
Liam Manning remains in charge at Norwich, so I’m going to back an away win. Norwich have lost every home game so far this season, and sit only above Sheffield Wednesday in the league, having amassed just eight points. They are on a run of five straight defeats, while Hull have picked up 10 points from their last four and will fancy their chances of stealing another away win.
Nick: 1-1
Conor: 1-2
Leicester vs Blackburn (Saturday, 12:30) - 1-0 @ 5/1
Leicester aren’t great right now, and neither are Blackburn. Rovers, to their credit, came from behind to beat Southampton at the weekend, while Leicester lost at Millwall and slid down to 10th in the league. I think there will be very little in it, but will back a bit of individual talent to win it for the home side.
Nick: 3-0
Conor: 2-1

West Brom vs Sheffield Wednesday (Saturday, 12:30) - 1-1 @ 15/2
Sheffield Wednesday have been plunged into administration, but while that’s usually bad news for most clubs, it’s breathed new life into the Owls. Dejphon Chansiri’s grasp on the club has now loosened as the administrators take control, and a new buyer is hopefully in the pipeline.
Anyway, on the pitch, they travel to face a West Brom outfit that have one win in four. After a free midweek, I think Sheff Wed can nick a point backed by a buoyant away following.
Nick: 2-0
Conor: 1-1
Southampton vs Preston (Saturday, 15:00) - 1-1 @ 6/1
Southampton have been really bad this season from a results perspective and Will Still is now under pressure with the Saints sitting 20th in the league. For a year one parachute payment team, they are massively underperforming, and so the home tie against Preston is not straightforward by any means.
I’m always overly negative about PNE, but their 3-2 comeback win over Sheff Utd was impressive. I think they can earn another point in this one.
Nick: 2-1
Conor: 1-2
QPR vs Ipswich (Saturday, 15:00) - 1-2 @ 7/1
Ipswich got an important 1-0 win over West Brom last time out while QPR have two wins and two losses in their last four outings. Kieran McKenna’s future looks uncertain at the time of writing but I do believe his Ipswich squad is the best in the division on paper, and that should carry them to all three points.
Nick: 1-2
Conor: 1-1
Odds correct at time of publishing.
Watford vs Middlesbrough (Saturday, 15:00) - 2-1 @ 9/1
Big price for a shock scoreline here. I think Watford have massively improved under Javi Gracia, even if results on the pitch haven’t quite shown it. They’ve got bags of individual talent and arguably should have got something at league leaders Coventry based on the chances they created.
Imran Louza is a wonderful midfielder while Nestory Irankunda’s pace should cause issues for Boro. I just fancy the Hornets to cause a shock on Saturday, despite Boro’s second-place standing.
Nick: 1-1
Conor: 1-1
Charlton vs Swansea (Saturday, 15:00) - 2-1 @ 15/2
Have to back Nathan Jones again. His side are up to sixth in the table and are currently the best performing side out of the new arrivals to the division this term. They host Swansea who beat Norwich in their last league game, but then had an energy-sapping cup tie against Man City to deal with. Will go for the hosts to edge it.
Nick: 1-0
Conor: 2-0
Birmingham vs Portsmouth (Saturday, 15:00) - 1-0 @ 5/1
Underperforming Birmingham should be faring far better than they are, and this pick doesn’t feel all that sensible on paper, to be truthful. The thing is, I think Chris Davies will eventually get them onto a winning run and find his best team, so let’s back it to start here. They can battle their way past a Pompey side on a bad run.
Nick: 2-0
Conor: 2-1
Oxford United vs Millwall (Saturday, 15:00) - 0-1 @ 13/2
The Gary Rowett derby? He’s won two of his last three games in charge of Oxford but faces an uphill battle to keep them in the league this term. His former club Millwall are absolutely flying under Alex Neil and have now won their last four games on the bounce. Will back them to find another win in Oxfordshire.
Nick: 0-1
Conor: 1-2
Odds correct at time of publishing.
Sheffield United vs Derby County (Saturday, 15:00) - 2-0 @ 7/1
Sheffield United lost a 2-0 lead at Deepdale in their last outing but I think they are looking far better under Chris Wilder. John Eustace may have got Derby going as well with back-to-back 1-0 wins but the Blades should provide a step up in opposition, even if the current league table doesn’t suggest it. Home win to nil.
Nick: 2-0
Conor: 2-1
Stoke vs Bristol City (Saturday, 15:00) - 1-1 @ 5/1
We round off with Stoke hosting Bristol City, which looks to be an evenly-matched encounter. The Potters are flying in fifth, but Bristol City have leapfrogged them into fourth with three wins on the bounce - so I’m staying firmly on the fence here with a 1-1 draw.
Nick: 2-1
Conor: 1-1
