Tottenham vs Borussia Dortmund Prediction: Germans to heap more pressure on Frank

Defeat on Saturday to West Ham, Thomas Frank is now walking the proverbial tight rope as Tottenham manager. The Dane's short stint in North London is not proving to be popular, Champions League results the only glimmer of light in what is shaping up to be a dark and depressing season. 

Tuesday night sees them play host to Borussia Dortmund in Matchday 7 of this season's league phase and with both teams on the fringes of an automatic invite to the knockout phases, this encounter is nothing less than a must-win game – more so for the potentially outgoing Spurs boss. Team News 

Thomas Frank has to make do with another defensive personnel switch in the Champions League as the centre back partnership of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven is likely to be disrupted once again. The former already missing games due to suspension, now the latter is unavailable on Tuesday. 

Not the news that manager Frank wants to hear after Ben Davies' terrible injury on Saturday. Another player in the physio room for the medical team to work on as the absence of van de Ven will mean Kevin Danso will once again be required to slot into Spurs' back four.  

As for Borussia Dortmund, they are unlikely to be able to call upon the services of Marcel Sabitzer. The Austrian may have started in the frenetic 3-3 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday but during the highly entertaining stalemate, the 31-year-old midfielder picked up a calf injury. 

This means his role in the starting eleven is likely to be handed to Jobe Bellingham. The former Sunderland midfielder has already made six appearances in Europe this season and has shown to be a steady hand when up against continental opposition. How will he fare when back on English soil?

Tottenham are priced at 2/1 to win this game, with Borussia Dortmund the favourites at 6/4. That gives the away team an implied win probability of 40% while a draw can be backed at 5/2. 

BTTS has been priced at 8/13 and over 2.5 goals is 4/5, while Serhou Guirassy is the favourite to score first at 4/1.

Borussia Dortmund win @ 6/4

Tottenham may have ruled the roost in each of their last four meetings with Borussia Dortmund but it is fair to say that previous iterations of the North London side had a lot more talent to call upon. The same cannot be said as we go into the penultimate game of the Champions League league phase. 

Thomas Frank's men in disarray after defeat to West Ham on Saturday, Borussia Dortmund under the watchful eye of manager Niko Kovac will smell a huge opportunity in terms of boosting their top eight hopes and I smell a huge opportunity when it comes to backing the away win on Tuesday.

It may end up being bad news for Tottenham and by extension Thomas Frank in a few hours but I do think those in attendance will at least be treated to some entertainment – entertainment that can be found straight from the off, especially when you consider how both teams performed at the weekend. 

Borussia Dortmund conceded three at Eintracht Frankfurt, Tottenham hapless at home to West Ham. Spurs will be keen to get out the gate quickly but in doing so, they will leave themselves exposed. Therefore. I think both teams getting on the scoresheet in the first 45 minutes is also worth some serious consideration.
