Sturm Graz vs Girona Prediction: Stalemate forecast in Austria

Both Sturm Graz and Girona find themselves in need of Champions League points if they are going to be participating in the play-offs in the spring. The Austrians have been competitive but still find themselves with four straight losses, while Girona's maiden European voyage has so far only yielded a win over bottom-of-the-table Slovan Bratislava.

Jon Gorenc Stankovic is the only confirmed absentee for the home side, though interim boss Jurgen Saumel is sweating on the fitness of Amady Camara.

Girona are without Arnau Martinez, who was sent off in their 4-0 loss at PSV Eindhoven on matchday four.

Yangel Herrera, Gabriel Misehouy, Portu and Abel Ruiz are also set to be absent for the La Liga as boss Michel ponders his options.

Despite home advantage, Strum Graz are as big as 23/10 to win. Girona are in their debut season in European competition and have lost both games on the road so far, but they are 21/20 to earn a win, with the draw priced at 11/4.

Bojan Miovski is a 9/2 chance to open the scoring for the Spanish visitors, while Girona are 10/1 to win 2-0.

Sturm Graz can count themselves a little unfortunate to be pointless after four games. They have been competitive in all four outings, not least in Germany last time as Borussia Dortmund had to wait 85 minutes to break the deadlock in a 1-0 win.

Sturm Graz are currently on an eight-game unbeaten sequence in their domestic league and will fancy they can get something against a visiting Girona side with just two away wins in their last seven in all competitions.

Goals have not been flowing in Sturm Graz's European assignments, with under 2.5 goals landing in three of their four games so far. Girona have yet to find the net away from home.

These sides look hard to split and a stalemate is the preferred option, with a decent chance they will cancel each other out during large spells of the game with both wary of making game-changing errors.

Oriol Romeu is in his second season on loan at Girona from Barcelona. The 33-year-old holding midfielder had 10 cautions last season and he is already on target to match that, with three in nine appearances so far, including one in the Champions League matchday one loss at PSG.

He is no stranger to a booking, managing double figures in terms of yellow cards in three successive seasons during his time at Southampton.

At the weekend, Romeo made four tackles in the 4-1 La Liga win over Espanyol and he may be in the thick of it again in Austria with the home side sure to be competitive.

He's liable to find his way into the referee's notebook.
