Napoli vs Qarabag Prediction: Hosts to get a much-needed win

Napoli have work to do in the Uefa Champions League, having won just one of their four matches thus far. On Tuesday (20:00 GMT, TNT Sports 6) they welcome Qarabag to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, with the visitors having managed two wins already.

Team News

Napoli have a third hamstring injury to deal with following the ones sustained by Belgian duo Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku. Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa picked up his issue while on international duty with Cameroon and he is now set for a spell on the sidelines.

The hosts are also missing goalkeeper Alex Meret due to a metatarsal fracture, while there is hope that Leonardo Spinazzola can return to action on Tuesday following a bone issue. Midfielder Billy Gilmour is another who will need to be assessed ahead of the game.

Football Odds

Ten of Qarabag's players have started all four matches in the Champions League so far and so this habit is expected to continue for boss Gurban Gurbanov in Naples. After an impressive draw against Chelsea last time, the visitors may actually field the same XI.

Attacker Leandro Andrade has five goals in the competition this season so far, with two coming in qualifying. He will be looked to for inspiration in the final third on Tuesday.

Napoli are the 1/4 favourites to win this clash. They are unbeaten at home this season, winning six of the eight games played here. You can get an improved 7/4 (implied probability of 36.4%) price when combining BTTS - Yes, which has landed in each of their past five home wins in all competitions.

BTTS - Yes on its own is valued at 10/11.

Both teams have drawn a game apiece in the league phase so far, and the stalemate is available at 9/2.

Qarabag have won two of their opening four fixtures in the league phase and they are 9/1 to stun Napoli.

With one win in this competition so far, Napoli really need to click into gear so that they can climb the table. They are missing some important players but Antonio Conte still has a lot of talent at his disposal.

His side should have more than enough to get past Qarabag, who despite a strong start to the league phase, have fared better when playing at home. And after all, Napoli have been resolute at home this term and they are yet to be beaten here in all competitions.

Like the visitors, they are a much stronger force at home and for that reason I think they will secure an important three points on Tuesday.

I don't think it will be an easy contest, however, as Qarabag have proven to be tricky customers in the Champions League so far - and I do see them asking the hosts a few questions.

With both teams scoring in each of Napoli's last five wins, I am backing this trend to continue.

Anytime Goalscorer - Scott McTominay @ 7/5

I was torn between which Napoli player to score in this match as both former Manchester United players Rasmus Hojlund and Scott McTominay have bagged two in in the Champions League so far.

I have gone for the latter not just because he is a bigger price but because he recently scored a sublime bicycle kick for Scotland to help them book their place at the Fifa World Cup finals next summer.

The Scotsman was the Serie A player of the season in 2024/25 as he scored 12 goals and registered three assists. He has shown to be a regular source of goals for Gli Azzurri, and while he is yet to really get going this term, no one can doubt his attacking threat.

Whether it's open play or set-pieces, McTominay gets into excellent positions and I fancy him to get on the scoresheet here.
