Liverpool and Real Madrid renew old rivalries at Anfield on Wednesday night (20:00, TNT Sports 1) as they face off in the league phase of the Uefa Champions League. The Reds have made a perfect start to their campaign, winning all four games, whereas Los Blancos are only on six points having lost half (two) of their matches.

Below you can find my Liverpool vs Real Madrid Bet Builder tips, with two players from each team combining for odds of 20/1.

Liverpool vs Real Madrid Odds

Player cards - Alexis Mac Allister (LIV) carded

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is walking a domestic and European disciplinary tightrope as his next yellow card in the Premier League or Champions League would rule him out of the next game in that respective competition. He started Sunday's 3-2 victory over Southampton at St Mary's Stadium on the bench, with some people speculating it was to lessen the chances of him being booked and missing this weekend's crunch clash with Manchester City at Anfield.

The Argentina international has been carded four times in 12 league appearances (10 starts) but has two yellows in eight fewer European outings (all starts). Mac Allister was cautioned in the second half of Liverpool's 3-1 win over AC Milan at San Siro on matchday one and was also booked on matchday three in the 1-0 triumph over RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena. His next card in the competition would bring about a one-game ban as three yellows is the threshold in the Champions League.

Mac Allister avoided a booking in Liverpool's last European game, the 4-0 thrashing of Bayer Leverkusen at Anfield earlier this month. However, a home clash against Real Madrid represents the Reds' toughest test yet and with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe and Eduardo Camavinga on the pitch, the 25-year-old may be forced to take alternative action to stop the visitors bearing down on goal.

He's made it to Liverpool's biggest games of the season this week without incurring a suspension and that's probably a weight off his shoulders. Whether subconscious or not, the thought of missing the visit of either Real Madrid or Man City is sure to have played on his mind, and he is now free to challenge as normal, safe in the knowledge that he would 'only' miss a trip to Girona if he gets written down in the referee's notebook on Wednesday.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion man averages 1.2 fouls per game in this season's Champions League and 1.3 fouls per game in the 2024/25 Premier League, if you needed any more convincing about the type of player he is out of possession.

Player cards - Eduardo Camavinga (LIV) carded

Joining Mac Allister in the book on Wednesday - at least in my mind - is Real Madrid midfielder Camavinga. Like the Liverpool star, Camavinga is at risk of a one-match suspension having been booked in two of his first three Champions League appearances this term.

He's only started once in the competition but was carded in that game, a 1-0 defeat to Lille OSC in his homeland of France on October 2, while he was also cautioned in Los Blancos' 3-1 home defeat to AC Milan earlier this month. The France international came on at the start of the second half against the Italian giants and received a card within 13 minutes of his introduction.

Despite limited game time in the Champions League, Camavinga is averaging two fouls per game having made four at Lille and two against Milan either side of keeping it clean in a 5-2 hammering of Borussia Dortmund on October 22.

He's not been carded yet in this season's La Liga but is averaging 1.2 fouls in the Spanish top flight and was booked nine times in that competition in 2023/24.

With Aurelien Tchouameni out injured, there is a big responsibility on Camavinga to hold down the midfield, with an ageing Luka Modric likely to partner him at Anfield. The 22-year-old is a bag fan of a tactical foul and is well known for chopping down opposition attackers looking to spring away and bear down on goal, so he's an obvious candidate to be booked in L4.

Player stats - Federico Valverde (RMA) 1+ shots

Next up is a shot for Real Madrid and Uruguay star Federico Valverde. Injuries to Dani Carvajal, Lucas Vazquez and Eder Militao have seen the 26-year-old deployed as a right-back in recent weeks but that hasn't reduced his goal threat too much, with Valverde registering a shot on target in each of Los Blancos' last two league games, a 4-0 thrashing of Osasuna on November 9 and Sunday's 3-0 win at Leganes. He even scored in the latter, his third goal of the season for his club side.

Valverde was also on target for Uruguay in their latest 2026 World Cup qualifier against Brazil last Wednesday, when La Celeste ground out a 1-1 draw in Salvador. He managed three efforts in that match and is always a danger in and around the box with such a powerful and accurate shot on him.

The Penarol Academy graduate is averaging a shot per game in this season's Champions League and looks decent value to attempt at least one on Wednesday with his side looking to win to strengthen their top-eight objective.

Player stats - Luis Diaz (LIV) 2+ fouls

Rounding off this Bet Builder is Liverpool winger Luis Diaz, who I am tipping to commit at least two fouls at Anfield. The Colombian is more famed for his dribbling and silky skills but he's not afraid to do the dirty work for his team either, as evidenced by the 2.2 fouls per game he is averaging in this season's Champions League.

The 27-year-old has started twice in the competition, against Bologna and Bayer Leverkusen, with both games coming at Anfield. He gave away three free-kicks against the Italians and five against the Germans, while he also made one foul as a substitute in Milan.

He could be tasked with helping Andy Robertson deal with teenage Turkish star Arda Guler down Liverpool's left-hand side on Wednesday, and that only increases his chances of making a few fouls. Guler only came on in the 67th minute against Lille in his last European appearance but was fouled three times, while he was taken down twice in his 75 minutes of action on Sunday.
