Inter Milan vs Arsenal Prediction: Goals may be in short supply

Arsenal are on the brink of securing their place in the Uefa Champions League knockout stage after winning all six of their opening matches in the league phase. The Gunners travel to San Siro on Tuesday to face Inter Milan (20:00 GMT, Prime Video).

Inter are sixth in the standings, which would also send them straight through, but they have lost their past two European fixtures. Read on for my Inter Milan vs Arsenal predictions, supported by the latest match odds and team news.

Team News

Hakan Calhanoglu (calf) and Denzel Dumfries (ankle) are out injured for Inter, and both are key figures for the Nerazzurri, so they will be big misses on Tuesday night.

Raffaele Di Gennaro (hand) and Tomas Palacios (thigh) are also in the treatment room for the hosts. Alessandro Bastoni and Marcus Thuram should be recalled here after being unused substitutes in Saturday's Serie A victory at Udinese.

Former Arsenal man Henrikh Mkhitaryan may also get a crack against his old employers.

Football Odds

Arsenal trio Mikel Merino, Christian Norgaard and Declan Rice are all one booking away from a suspension, so this is something boss Mikel Arteta will need to handle carefully.

Piero Hincapie (thigh) and Riccardo Calafiori (muscle) remain sidelined through injury, but the Gunners will be able to rotate their defence if needed.

Myles Lewis-Skelly may get an opportunity at left-back, while Merino could get the nod in midfield. Gabriel Jesus will be pushing to lead the line in Milan.

Inter are 15/8 to come out on top here, having won four of their six Champions League matches to date.

The two teams have conceded five goals between them during the league phase, so the draw may be tempting at 23/10.

Arsenal have a perfect winning record in this competition so far, and they are 6/4 (implied probability of 40%) to come away with the three points.

Gabriel Martinelli has scored five goals for the Gunners in Europe, and he is 7/2 to add to his tally on Tuesday.

Given how well both defences have fared in the Champions League this season, I don't think there will be many goals on offer in this contest. Arsenal's place in the knockout stage is all but assured following their 100% winning record to date, and while there may be some rotation in the ranks, those coming in will be out to impress in the hopes of gaining more minutes.

The Gunners' goalless draw at Nottingham Forest in the Premier League was the second successive 0-0 they experienced in the top flight, after a frustrating home match against Liverpool earlier in the month.

In the UCL, BTTS - No has landed in five of Arsenal's six fixtures, including all three of their away trips. At least one team has failed to score in two of Inter's three home encounters in this competition in 2025/26, while three of their last four fixtures in all competitions have seen BTTS - No strike coming into Tuesday.

Total Goals - Under 1.5 @ 9/4

Even greater value can be found in backing under 1.5 goals. As mentioned earlier, both teams have conceded just five goals between them in Europe this campaign, and with two stubborn defences squaring up against each other, it is hard to see this contest featuring many goals.

Arsenal's recent 0-0 draws in the Premier League have raised concerns among the fan base, as they are struggling to be clinical in key moments. Any chances that they get against Inter, they simply cannot afford to miss.

There have also been fewer than two goals scored in Inter's past two Serie A matches against Lecce and Udinese, while their most recent UCL fixture was a 1-0 defeat at home to Liverpool.
