Liverpool's perfect start to the season came crashing down at Selhurst Park on Saturday, as Crystal Palace hit an injury-time winner to defeat the Reds 2-1 in the Premier League. Arne Slot's side will look to return to winning ways in the Uefa Champions League on Tuesday (20:00 BST, Amazon Prime Video), when they take on Turkish giants Galatasaray at Rams Park.

Below are my Galatasaray vs Liverpool predictions, supported by all the latest team news and match odds, ahead of this league phase fixture in Istanbul.

Team News

Victor Osimhen made his return from a three-game injury absence as a late substitute in Galatasaray's 1-0 win at Alanyaspor on Friday. The Nigeria international will likely have to accept a place on the bench again on Tuesday, with Mauro Icardi, who struck the winner against Alanyaspor to bring up his fifth goal in six Super Lig matches, set to lead the line once more.

Icardi could be joined in the starting XI by former Manchester City stars Leroy Sane and Ilkay Gundogan, who joined Okan Buruk's side in the summer.

Other ex-Premier League players who could begin Tuesday's game include Davinson Sanchez (Tottenham Hotspur) and Lucas Torreira (Arsenal).

Football Odds

Liverpool could make several changes to their starting XI following Saturday's defeat in south London.

Joe Gomez, Andy Robertson, Jeremie Frimpong and Cody Gakpo are front of the queue to earn promotions from the bench, with Ibrahima Konate, Milos Kerkez, Conor Bradley and Alexis Mac Allister all at risk of demotions.

Hugo Ekitike is also likely to return to the team after a suspension saw him sit out the weekend loss to Palace; club-record signing Alexander Isak could drop down as his minutes continue to be managed.

Giovanni Leoni (knee) misses out after tearing his ACL in last week's 2-1 Carabao Cup victory over Southampton.

Galatasaray vs Liverpool Predicted Lineups

  • Galatasaray - Cakir; Sallai, Singo, Sanchez, Elmali; Torreira, Lemina; Sane, Gundogan, Akgun; Icardi
  • Liverpool - Alisson; Frimpong, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, Wirtz; Salah, Ekitike, Gakpo

Today's Football Fixtures

Galatasaray vs Liverpool Odds

Galatasaray have started the Super Lig season like a train, winning their first seven matches, but the Lions, who were spanked 5-1 on matchday one by Eintracht Frankfurt, are 4/1 outsiders to triumph on Tuesday, implying a 20% probability of success. Liverpool, meanwhile, are 8/13 (61.9%) to make it two wins from two after beating Atletico Madrid 2-1 at Anfield on September 17.

The draw is priced at 7/2, both teams to score, which has landed in seven of Liverpool's nine games in all competitions this term, at 1/2, and over 2.5 total goals at 4/9.

Isak and Mohamed Salah (both 19/20) head the anytime goalscorer market, with Osimhen (13/10) and Icardi (7/4) first up for the hosts.

Galatasaray vs Liverpool Stats

  • Liverpool won the UCL league phase last season
  • Gala finished 14th in the 2024/25 UEL league phase
  • Mohamed Salah (LIV) registered three shots on target v Atletico (scored with first)
  • Roland Sallai (GAL) averaged a yellow every 2.75 games last term

Liverpool are coming off a loss, while Gala, top of the Super Lig after a perfect start to the league season, claimed all three points in their latest encounter.

However, while the hosts have several highly experienced and talented players, it's fair to suggest that they are not at the level of their opponents, who won the league phase of this competition in 2024/25, finishing two points ahead of Barcelona, Arsenal and Inter, and eight points clear of eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Gala, on the other hand, finished 14th in the league phase of the Uefa Europa League, winning just three of their eight matches before suffering a 6-3 aggregate defeat to AZ Alkmaar in the knockout phase play-offs.

Granted, the Lions went undefeated across five Europa League home games last season (W3, D2), but the best side they faced in Istanbul was probably Spurs, who, despite winning the competition, finished the Premier League campaign in 17th, 46 points behind winners Liverpool.

Rams Park can be a difficult venue to visit, with a hostile atmosphere created by the Gala supporters, but we shouldn't forget that Young Boys beat them 1-0 there in the second leg of their Champions League qualifier last year, and in Germany just a couple of weeks ago, the Turkish side were humbled 5-1 by Eintracht.

So, I'm happy to back the English outfit to return home with another three league phase points under their belt, and I also like the look of a couple of Salah shots on target.

The Egyptian hasn't set the world alight this season, yet has scored four goals in his last nine appearances for club and country, including one in Liverpool's Champions League opener against Atletico. Salah struck in the sixth minute of that victory and registered a further two shots on target, one in the 31st minute, and one in the 40th.

He should be confident of hitting the target at least twice on Tuesday against a Gala side that shipped five goals - and eight shots on target - to Eintracht in their first league phase match earlier this month.

The final leg of this Price Boost requires Gala to rack up at least 30 booking points, something they managed in five of their final seven European outings last season.

Player to Receive a Card - Roland Sallai (GAL) @ 4/1

This looks like great value considering Roland Sallai picked up 12 yellow cards in 33 appearances during his debut season at Gala, averaging one every 2.75 games.

The Hungary international was cautioned 10 times in 27 Super Lig matches, and twice in four Turkish Cup ties, managing to avoid a booking in his two Europa League outing

Sallai has already gone into the book this term, picking up a yellow in Gala's 3-1 victory over Rizespor on August 30, and seven days later, he was shown a straight red for his country in their 2-2 draw with the Republic of Ireland.

The 28-year-old is averaging two fouls per game in this season's Super Lig, and he made that number in his side's first Champions League match against Eintracht.

On Tuesday, he could be up against Liverpool winger Gakpo, who is tied fifth for most fouls won in the Premier League this term, having earned 12 free-kicks across five starts before dropping down to the bench on Saturday and failing to draw a foul when called upon in the second half.
