Tuesday 25th November 2025, 8:45am

Villarreal have picked up just a single point from their first four games in the league phase of the 2025/26 Uefa Champions League, and they face a tough test in the competition on Tuesday (20:00 GMT, TNT Sports 4), when they take on Borussia Dortmund at the German side's Signal Iduna Park. Their hosts have lost just twice all season, away to Bayern Munich (2-1) and Manchester City (4-0), and have claimed seven points from a possible 12 in Europe.

Below are my Borussia Dortmund vs Villarreal predictions, accompanied by all the latest team news and match odds.

Borussia Dortmund vs Villarreal Betting Tips

  • Double Chance & Both Teams To Score - Borussia Dortmund or Draw & Yes @ 21/20

Team News

Borussia Dortmund defenders Ramy Bensebaini (back) and Niklas Sule (toe) missed their side's 3-3 draw with VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga on Saturday, and neither player is expected to return to action on Tuesday.

Football Odds

Villarreal are without knee injury victims Logan Costa and Pau Cabanes, as well as former Manchester United defender Willy Kambwala (hamstring), but Uruguay international Santiago Mourino could return at right-back after missing Saturday's 2-1 La Liga victory over Mallorca with a minor issue.

Borussia Dortmund vs Villarreal Predicted Lineups

  • Borussia Dortmund: Kobel; Anton, Can, Schlotterbeck; Ryerson, Nmecha, Sabitzer, Svensson; Adeyemi, Beier; Guirassy
  • Villarreal: Junior; Mourino, Marin, Veiga, Pedraza; Moleiro, Partey, Comesana, Buchanan; Oluwaseyi, Moreno

Borussia Dortmund vs Villarreal Odds

Borussia Dortmund are 4/5, or a 55.6% chance, to make it two home wins from two in the Champions League this season, while Villarreal are 3/1 (25%) to claim their first league phase victory, with the draw priced at 13/5.

Borussia Dortmund vs Villarreal Stats

  • DOR have scored in all 17 games this season (BTTS-Yes has landed 10 times)
  • DOR have conceded 11 goals in four UCL matches this term
  • DOR haven't lost at home since Mar 8

Double Chance & Both Teams To Score - Borussia Dortmund or Draw & Yes @ 21/20

I'm confident both teams can get on the scoresheet at Signal Iduna Park.

Dortmund have scored in all 17 of their matches this season, with BTTS-Yes landing 10 times, including in all three so far in November.

Given Villarreal have lost three times already in the league phase, and are yet to record a victory, you may be tempted to back the hosts to win on Tuesday, especially as only Bayern and Man City have defeated them in 2025/26.

Today's Football Fixtures

However, BVB are now three games without a win, having followed up their Champions League defeat at Man City with Bundesliga draws away to Hamburger SV (1-1) and at home to VfB Stuttgart (3-3). They've also shipped 11 goals in the league phase, with only Ajax (14), FC Copenhagen and Union Saint-Gilloise (both 12) conceding more times.

Villarreal have only scored twice in four European outings this term, but they've restored some confidence in recent weeks, claiming back-to-back La Liga victories against Espanyol (0-2) and Real Mallorca (2-1).

So, both teams to score feels like an obvious selection, as does Borussia Dortmund or Draw, as BVB haven't lost a competitive home game since March 8, when Augsburg claimed a 1-0 success in the Bundesliga.

Anytime Goalscorer - Karim Adeyemi (DOR) @ 9/4

Karim Adeyemi came off the bench in the 77th minute for Dortmund on Saturday and thought he had grabbed the winner with an 89th-minute strike, only for Deniz Undav to complete his hat-trick two minutes later.

Still, it was a confidence-boosting goal for Adeyemi, who hadn't found the net in his previous 10 appearances for club and country.

Prior to that barren run, the Germany international had struck in three consecutive games, including in Dortmund's 4-4 thriller with Juventus in the Champions League on September 16. It's a competition he seems to enjoy, as he scored five goals in 10 games last season.

I'm expecting Adeyemi to start on Tuesday, and a fifth goal of the campaign is certainly within his reach.
