The hosts were hopeful this would be their first big match back at Camp Nou. However, fresh delays to construction work have prompted a return to the stadium that was the setting for a 4-1 PSG victory when these sides last met in 2024.

That seems like a lifetime ago as far as Barcelona are concerned. Uncertainty over Xavi’s future was the talk of the Catalan capital around that time, but Barça have barely looked back since appointing Hansi Flick a month after that quarter-final tie.

The German has managed to get more out of virtually all of these players. Having won all three domestic trophies last term, the Spanish champions have started the 2025/26 campaign brightly too. They’ve won seven out of eight in all competitions, including a 2-1 victory in a tough opening Champions League fixture away to Newcastle.

Barça have reeled off three more La Liga wins since then, although they’ve needed to come from behind in the last two. Having beaten Real Oviedo 3-1 in Asturias, they saw off Real Sociedad 2-1 at the weekend back at home.

There were goals in both games for Robert Lewandowski, with Lamine Yamal returning from injury off the bench on Sunday to set up the Polish striker after just one minute on the pitch. The teenager looked as sharp as ever, terrorising the Real Sociedad defence at times, despite having not featured since August.

We also saw a slightly different side to Barcelona in those games. They were a major threat from set-piece situations, with Marcus Rashford twice assisting goals with corner deliveries.

That’s something that PSG will need to be wary of here, as the defending European champions face a stiff early test of their credentials to win the trophy again.

Only Barcelona’s 7-6 semi-final aggregate defeat to Inter Milan prevented what would surely have been a wonderful final between the clubs last term. These will clearly be two of the strongest teams in the competition again this year, and it’s an early chance for one of the two to make a big statement.

PSG have arguably already done that, when they demolished Atalanta 4-0 in their opening fixture, despite the absence of the key attacking duo of Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué.

However, they haven’t been quite as convincing in their two Ligue 1 matches since then. Luis Enrique’s side suffered a rare defeat against rivals Marseille in their next fixture, going down 1-0 at the Stade Vélodrome.

With a host of regulars missing, they weren’t impressive at home to Auxerre on Saturday either, but still ground out a 2-0 victory with defenders Illia Zabarnyi and Lucas Beraldo scoring the goals.

They are in a state of transition to some extent at the back, with new signing Lucas Chevalier settling in between the sticks, following the sale of Gianluigi Donnarumma to Manchester City. This is likely to be the biggest test yet for the former Lille number one.

Team News:

Punters will want to pay close attention to the team news and final starting lineups on Wednesday. Both teams are dealing with some extensive selection issues, which could have a big impact on the outcome of this match.

Injuries for Joan García and Marc-André ter Stegen mean that Wojciech Szczęsny will start in goal for the hosts. They are also missing Gavi, Raphinha and Fermín López. Yamal should return to the starting lineup, while Ferran Torres, Pau Cubarsí and Dani Olmo could also rotate in.

As for PSG, they are still missing Ballon d’Or winner Dembélé and 20-year-old star Doué, while a number of fresh injury concerns have emerged over the past fortnight.

They’ll also have to cope without Mariquinhos and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in this fixture. In better news for the Parisians, Vitinha, Fabián Ruiz and João Neves have all been deemed fit enough to make the travelling squad.

Barcelona vs PSG Predicted Lineups

  • Barcelona: Szczesny; Kounde, Cubarsi, Araujo, Martin; Pedri, De Jong; Yamal, Olmo, Rashford; Lewandowski
  • PSG: Chevalier; Hakimi, Zabarnyi, Pacho, Mendes; Lee, Vitinha, Zaire-Emery; Mbaye, Ramos, Barcola

Barcelona vs PSG Odds:

Barcelona are the 4/5 favourites to continue their strong start to the campaign by making it two wins out two in the Champions League. You can back the Draw at 16/5, while PSG are on offer at 13/5.

If you fancy the hosts, you can also back Barcelona to win and Both teams to score at odds of 9/5. The Catalans are priced at 13/8 to score over 2.5 goals in the game, a winning bet in 71% of their matches in this competition last term.

Alternatively, you can back PSG or Draw in the Double Chance market at odds of 9/10. The holders are priced at 11/10 to score over 1.5 goals.

Lewandowski is the 10/11 favourite in the Anytime Goalscorer market. However, he may face competition from in-form Ferran for a starting role, with the Spaniard priced at 6/5 to get on the scoresheet. Yamal is available at 6/4 in the same market.

With PSG missing their first-choice front three, this is an opportunity for their other attacking players to shine. Bradley Barcola should have a major role, with the 23-year-old available at 2/1 to score anytime.

There are also a number of Price Boosts available, with Rashford on offer at enhanced odds of 11/1 to score 2+ goals, a fortnight after his brace at St James' Park. The Englishman impressed for Aston Villa against this opposition in the quarter-finals of last season's competition.

Barcelona to win & Over 2.5 goals @ 13/10

While the home team are missing a couple of important players, their selection issues don’t compare to those of PSG, particularly now that Yamal is fit again.

The visitors won’t offer the same threat without Dembélé, Doué and Kvaratskhelia and their ability to press from the front will suffer. It’s also unclear exactly what sort of shape their midfield is in, so we will be starved of the enticing prospect of these two teams going at each other at anything like full strength.

Barcelona have tended to rise to the Champions League stage under Flick, and 93% of their games in the competition under the German’s guidance have served up three or more goals.

I can see the hosts having too much for their under-strength opponents here, and I’m backing Barcelona to win and Over 2.5 goals at 13/10.

Bet Builder - Lamine Yamal 3+ shots & Most Corners - Barcelona @ 11/8

It was almost as though Yamal had never been away when he returned to the field early in the second half at the weekend. He was straight into the thick of the action, and with Raphinha currently sidelined, there’ll be added responsibility on his young shoulders to offer a goal threat here.

The teenager is averaging 5.66 shots per 90 minutes in Barça colours this term. His immediate impression on Sunday suggests he may even end up playing the whole game here, and that should serve up plenty of shooting opportunities.

With Yamal and Rashford on the two flanks, the hosts should be a regular threat out wide and they’ll be keen to win plenty of corners given their current success from those situations. They won 12 to Real Sociedad’s one at the weekend, while PSG have failed to win the corner count in each of their last two Ligue 1 fixtures.

Given that, I’m using the Bet Builder to back Lamine Yamal 3+ shots and Most Corners - Barcelona at 11/8 here.
