Barcelona vs FC Copenhagen Preview:
Barcelona welcome FC Copenhagen to Camp Nou on what promises to be an exciting final matchday in the Champions League.
These two teams are in the thick of the main two battles on Wednesday night. Barça are currently just one place outside the top eight. They're one of eight sides on 13 points. Hansi Flick's players will need to not only win this game, but win it handsomely if they want to pass directly into the round of 16, on an evening when events elsewhere will help determine their fate.
What may work in the favour of the home team is that FC Copenhagen may also need to win to stay in the competition. A defeat would almost certainly eliminate the Danes, who are currently two places outside the top 24 on eight points.
That should be the recipe for a very watchable encounter at Camp Nou, with the home team likely to target goals from the first whistle.
On some levels, this situation is made for a Barça attack that is capable of tearing through even the best sides in Europe. They've a formidable home record this season, winning 12 out of 13 matches in all competitions in front of their own fans. It's six victories from six outings, and 17 goals scored, since they returned to Camp Nou in November.
Flick's side head into this game following a 4-2 victory at Slavia Prague in the Champions League last week, and a 3-0 win over Real Oviedo in La Liga on Sunday. They struggled to get going at the weekend, but ultimately capitalised on some defensive errors after the break, before Lamine Yamal sealed the points with a spectacular, acrobatic goal.
FC Copenhagen are currently on their domestic winter break. Teams in such circumstances struggled on matchdays seven and eight in this competition last term.
However, that trend did not continue last week, with Bodø/Glimt stunning Manchester City 3-1, while Copenhagen held Italian champions Napoli to a 1-1 draw.
Match sharpness did not appear to be an issue for Jacob Neestrup's side, whose previous competitive fixture was back on December 13th. Despite being a goal and a man down at the break, they fought back to level the game courtesy of a Jordan Larsson strike. That goal gives them a fighting chance heading into the final matchday.
Overall, the Danes will just be happy to have made it this far with some hope of progressing into the knockout stage. They looked dead and buried after picking up only one point from their opening four matches. Early away defeats against Qarabağ and Tottenham left them with a mountain to climb.
They then sneaked past bottom club Kairat 3-2 at home, before ex-Cardiff City striker Andreas Cornelius struck a 90th-minute winner in Spain to see off Villarreal by the same margin on matchday six. That result ranks as one of their best ever in European competition, but victory in Barcelona on Wednesday would certainly top it.
Team News:
Barça's hopes of running riot are hampered by the unavailability of their two regular central midfielders. Pedri is injured, while Frenkie de Jong serves a suspension after picking up his third Champions League booking in Prague.
Gavi and Andreas Christensen are also long-term injury absentees. However, there's better news in that Ferrán Torres returned to training this week. He should be in a position to compete with Robert Lewandowski for the starting role up front.
Thomas Delaney's early red card against Napoli leaves FC Copenhagen without one of their most experienced players. His presence will be missed in midfield.
There are few other major selection issues for the visitors. However, they do have injury concerns over Mexican defender Rodrigo Huescas and attacking midfielder Magnus Mattsson.
Barcelona vs FC Copenhagen Predicted Lineups

- Copenhagen: Kotarski, Meling, Gabriel, Suzuki, Lopez, Elyounoussi, Madsen, Claesson, Larsson, Cornelius, Dadason
Match Odds:
Barcelona are 1/8 favourites to win this game, while the Draw is priced at 8/1. You can back FC Copenhagen to win away against a La Liga team for the second time in this campaign at 16/1.
Over 3.5 goals is on offer at 4/7, while you can back Both teams to score at 8/11. If you're expecting the hosts to fire in the goals, the Blaugrana are priced at 11/10 to score over 3.5 times in the match.
Alternatively, Copenhagen are on offer at 5/6 with a +3.00 Handicap. The visitors are also priced at 4/1 to win either half as they bid to stay in the competition.
Lewandowski leads the way as the 9/4 favourite to score first, while he's on offer at 2/1 to score two or more goals in the game.
In the Anytime Goalscorer market, you can also take your pick from Yamal at 8/11, Dani Olmo at 10/11, and Fermín López at 1/1. Cornelius is priced at 18/5 to score for the visitors, while you can back 17-year-old Viktor Daðason to register a goal at odds of 16/5.

Barcelona vs FC Copenhagen Stats
- FC Copenhagen (46.2%) have the fourth-best Shots on Target percentage in the Champions League group phase. Barcelona are at 37.5%.
- Barcelona (0.38) have the fourth-best Goals per Shot on Target. FC Copenhagen are at 0.25.
- The home side have had 63% of possession in the Champions League campaign thus far. Only PSG (68%) have had the ball more. FC Copenhagen are fourth-lowest at 42%.
- Barcelona are one of only two sides (Monaco being the other) who have scored two own goals.
Bet 1 - Barcelona to win both halves @ 4/5
We didn't see anything like the best of Barcelona until after the break at the weekend, but it should be a different story here. The permutations at play mean they need to attack Copenhagen from the first whistle until the last, and put a complete 90 minutes together.
If they can sustain that intensity, their quality should be far too great for the Danes, even allowing for some notable absentees in midfield. Flick still has options in that department, with Eric García performing well in the role this season, while Marc Casadó and Fermín could also be deployed there.
Since the German coach took charge in 2024, the Blaugrana have scored 3.3 goals per game at home in the Champions League. Given only three teams have conceded more goals than Copenhagen in this season's competition, I'm backing Barça to win both halves.
Bet 2 - Raphinha to score anytime & Barcelona to score over 2.5 goals @ 1/1 via Bet Builder
This is the kind of night that Raphinha relishes. The Brazilian scored 13 goals in 14 appearances in last season's Champions League, and he's the player best equipped to set the tone by pressing aggressively from the first whistle as the hosts target a big win.
His current form is also very good, despite a lack of European goals, something that will surely change very soon. The ex-Leeds man has netted nine times in his last 10 appearances in all competitions.
I'm backing Raphinha to score anytime and Barcelona to score over 2.5 goals at 1/1, a bet that landed on Sunday, and looks good to do likewise again in what should be an open affair.
