Scottish Premiership champions Celtic welcome their fans to Parkhead on Boxing Day for the visit of Motherwell in an intriguing match set for a 3:00pm start.

The hosts are red-hot betting favourites to win the game, with Betfred traders pricing the Bhoys like losing isn’t an option. But will Brendan Rodgers’ side bounce back from a goalless draw on Sunday to deliver all three points?

Motherwell prepare for their 18th game of the season, sitting fourth in the Premiership following an eye-catching three-game unbeaten run.

Thursday’s challenge looks to have come at a good time for Stuart Kettlewell’s men, but can they upset the odds by winning and taking all three points back to North Lanarkshire? You can have your say now using the Betfred website and mobile app.

Celtic vs Motherwell Odds

Celtic kick-off as the league leaders with the chance to go a dozen points clear of the chasing pack. They’re unbeaten in 16 previous outings, winning 14, and it’s no surprise to see them nailed on as favourites to win this game.

They won 3-0 at Fir Park back in October, and you can back the locals to deliver at no more than the 1/11 currently available at Betfred. Those odds will likely nudge bettors into the specials.

Motherwell boast a three-game unbeaten run, showing two wins and a draw. They have climbed to fourth in the table and know the right set of results on Thursday would see them ramp up the pressure on third-placed Aberdeen, who are stuck on a winless run.

Success at Parkhead doesn’t come often for Well, but the underdogs take confidence from December wins over St Mirren and Hearts before drawing with Kilmarnock last time. The visitors are a massive 20/1 to win with the draw 10/1.

Both score and Celtic win

As you can see from the pre-match betting, Celtic’s price is extremely tight, which is no surprise to Scottish football followers, given the home team’s form this season. Looking for an opportunity to back the locals at better odds? We place our trust in the trends and take both teams to score in a Celtic win.

Backing both score and Celtic win would’ve returned a profit in half of the last four games involving these teams, including a 3-1 win for the Bhoys late last season. Both teams scored in five of the previous six games and we’re happy to chance a repeat performance at a price that’s good enough to back as a single.

Idah to score first

Adam Idah hasn’t exactly set the heather alight since signing with Celtic. The attacker has scored five goals in 13 games so far, placing him joint seventh in the Premiership scoring charts behind the likes of Nicky Clark of St Johnstone and Cyriel Dessers of Rangers. But he boasts decent stats against Thursday’s opponents.

Idah found the net when Celtic beat Motherwell 3-0 on the road earlier this season and has scored three goals in his last two games against Well. The Irishman was last on the scoresheet against Ross County back in November, meaning the pressure is on to ramp up his numbers. Thursday is the ideal time to get moving.
